Who here works with law enforcement or is a qualified cop or a detective? Or maybe you were and they gave you some ridiculous job instead.

I need to know what job opportunities there are in this area. I want to get officially back to my work as a detective.

Currently, I'm located in Jeopardy but I'm originally from Pennsylvania so Maurtia Falls would also be of interest. I want to know what positions are available, in any of the Porter cities.

Detective here. I'm just tryin' to get my foot in the door. I get why these weird government types are a little shirty about hirin' Joes straight outta nowhere onto the force, but it's been a pain in the tail to get taken seriously. And not even because I look like this.

They have files on us. You would think they'd already know our qualifications.

What job did they give you?

Well yeah, but do you wanna suddenly make Captain Two Weeks From Retirement who just got here and has an axe to grind assert himself on the local police force? If I lived here, I'd be sparking mad over that kind of move. It's why I don't even wanna go into the force. Just let me start my own agency. I'll run parallel to the cops. I don't care. Just let me do what I was born to do.

[He makes a face.] I'm a cashier at a plushie emporium- don't laugh. There's guys who have it worse.

They made me a locksmith with some awful pun on my name.

They won't let you start your own detective agency? How long have you been here?

A handful of months- one of which I was in a coma during. It's not so much about not letting me as it is me not having the credibility to be taken seriously and not immediately laughed out of the biz.

And what's your name? I'm... well, usually I'd introduce myself as Detective Loki. Force of habit. Unofficially, it's still true. Anyway. My name's David Loki.

[With all the other strange things around here, some sort of talking animal wasn't too far fetched. He sounded smart enough. Who was he to question his detecting skills?]

It's pretty difficult to get reinstated, sir. We can't exactly take our resumes and reference letters with us from back home, but you'd probably have better luck with the Maurtia Falls police department than I did.

Um... mostly because I'm twelve, and you definitely aren't.

But you tried to apply?

Several times, yeah. They're much stricter about child labour laws and 'endangering minors' here. I've talked to the people at the front desk so many times now that they recognize me, and just shoo me out the door now.

I don't think you'd have that sort of trouble, though.

MFPD takes ImPort cops. But you work your way up, just like everybody else. No special treatment just because you shoot lasers out of your ass, or whatever.

My powers given here are of the more investigative nature but I never had any back home.

Fair enough, although I'd feel my skills would be a bit wasted just handing out traffic tickets.

You want in and I keep thinking about getting out. I tried going for the police academy in LA, but I expect they would have thrown me out before too long.

[He doesn't really want to go into the details of that life. It was technically his fault that one of the New Gods tore the place apart because he stored a piece of alien tech he'd run across doing the vigilante thing is his locker, after all. But dying and coming back years younger does tend to straighten things out.]

I doubt they'd do anything but laugh, here. If I tried to follow my grandpa's footsteps on the force again, I mean.

I've devoted my life to my work on the force. I want to get back to it, officially.

Why do you think they'd laugh at you?

My age, for one. Pretty sure you have to be able to vote to get a badge. I'm just navigating my way through a GED and into college now. It's been a crazy time for me, and a month and change here hasn't changed much.

[He doesn't hide that he's a teenager with a runner's build, and more poise than most kids his age would have. Bart knows exactly who and what he is, and here he has little to hide.]

I know the guy teaching forensics never took me for serious. Mostly because he couldn't believe I'd never seen a single CSI episode.

[There seems to him to be quite a few younger people or random creatures who want to be detectives or work with the law. It's something he's still getting used to.]

You should concentrate on schooling for now.

Yeah. I get that. It's just...not really my thing. Staying in one place for hours. Now that I think about it, I've been Kid Flash longer than anything else I've done in my life. But apparently worlds with superheroes aren't always the norm for being brought here.
