[ Donna doesn't opt into the video function when she starts up the communicator, an interesting little piece the soldiers on base handed over to her. Some people back home might have liked to get their hands on it for curiosity's sake.

Her inflection runs a little dry, events of the past couple of days and trying to get her bearings weighing upon her shoulders. To arrive in a world that's officially on a Doomsday Clock isn't the welcome party she wanted. ]

I'm trying to get this straight: one of the Moirai is on her way to potentially devour this world, but in the meantime one of her other sisters is going to keep bringing us in and the soldiers on base are kind of raising their arms up in defeat over it. That's thrilling.

Lachesis used to be the one running the kidnapping, but apparently she died and we have to bring her and Clotho back to keep the balance. At least, that's what I understand of things.

[gonna have to wait a while to encounter a Darkov in the wild; he'll be sleeping most of the day away when she's come to examine her new residence. in fact, there's little chance of noticing the kid here save for the closed door upstairs...at least until around 2am, when floorboards creak, footsteps lightly sound off the steps, and, later, the TV is turned on with the volume way down.]

[ Donna can't sleep.

It certainly doesn't aid her restlessness that her head is packed full of emotions and thoughts from a long day exploring the city, stopping by the Hall of Justice in De Chima and that conversation she had with Bruce.

She's aggravated, to say the least, but there's that part of her deep down that can't stop thinking about the full moon. It's close and everyone's gearing up for a fight, but here she is being...

She needs a glass of water. She can't think straight.

Donna creeps down the stairs, hearing the quiet buzz of the TV from the living room which earns her curiosity. She peers from the stairwell, but doesn't see anyone from the house yet. Making their acquaintance hasn't exactly been a priority, but as she steps further to see who might be up, she still doesn't notice anyone in the dark. Did someone leave the TV on? Weird. ]

[ It hasn't been so terribly long since Cassandra's disappearance. They've dealt with it the best way they can - they put their heads down and they carry on - but even so, Rex hadn't managed to entertain the idea that somebody else could be placed in their midst, as though Cassandra had never been here in the first place. Perhaps he had grown too comfortable here, grown too used to calling this space his own.

All he knows is that he's not expecting a stranger when he steps into his home. His bearing isn't particularly friendly, strong brow furrowed, back ramrod straight and officiant, on guard in a way he isn't always in his own home.

He's always like this when he's out of it, though. Some habits never change. ]

[ Donna's moseying about the house, naturally curious as to who else is living here as she hasn't encountered anyone yet. For a moment, she starts to wonder if she's the only one given how quiet the place is, but it's evidently lived in: a fridge full of food, there's a fish tank where the fish are merrily swimming about and look rather healthy and the place is fairly clean.

When Rex happens upon her, she's staring into the fish tank and reaching to poke the glass. Immediately her posture straightens, shoulders taut and expression inquisitive, but vigilant at the same time. ]

They don't give notice around here? [ She raises both hands in a placating gesture. She's not here to start trouble. ] The soldiers gave me a key to this place, said it was my "assigned" housing.
