I'm sorry to ruin all of the pleasant news that's been shared recently, but this is important.

[this is quite a departure in tone from what people on the network usually hear from Jonathan - it's steely and solemn, no trace of the sunny young man chatting amiably about dogs and lost items.]

A week ago two imPorts were kidnapped by a man named Robert Jennings for the sole purpose of hunting them down like animals. [the disgust in his voice is barely contained] They were rescued and Mr. Jennings himself was apprehended - but a group called the Go Fors whose services he utilized is still operating.

They provided technology which made it possible to spirit the pair of them away without causing suspicion, as well as keep them trapped long enough to be hunted. There were at least six individuals involved; I can provide names and some other information to whoever would like it.

This can't be allowed to happen again. I'll do whatever I can to help anyone interested in taking this up as well, whether through more details or physical assistance, but...in the meantime, please be careful, everyone.

[there's no telling what else they might attempt before they're brought down.]

[ Actual return excitement and praise is still a novelty to her, and she's pretty sure she shouldn't let herself get too into it. She does anyway, though. ]

Hell yeah I will! I mean — you know, with some practice.

[ Thus the interest in training, now pretty transparent. And she's pretty sure she shouldn't add this next part, but it comes out anyway: ]

Hey, Jo, wanna see a trick of mine? [ Her grin says she knows he'll say yes. ] It's only fair.

Of course! [he's excited enough that he doesn't even try to be playfully coy about it.] I'd be interested in anything you'd like to show me.

[ Even is yes is nice, of course it is. She rolls her eyes, but pushes back a few steps. ]

Okay— do your fire-hands trick again.

[Jonathan obliges, inhaling deeply and setting his hand aflame with a sharp exhale. he stands ready, just in case this trick requires some evasive maneuvering.]

[ She watches for a second or two, to make sure he's holding steady — then darts forward, both hands coming up for his. She feels pretty sure his instinctive reaction would be to take his hand away and make sure she doesn't hurt herself, which would be pretty counterproductive, so her main aim is to show off before he can manage it. She makes to clap both hands around his, a smile already in place. ]

Ah-!

[Jonathan's confident that Ramir knows what she's doing, but he's hardwired to protect people - when she makes the grab for his hand he reacts as she'd predicted. unfortunately he hadn't expected her to do that, and so he's not quite fast enough to get away. Zeppeli would be so disappointed that he's still letting himself do that.]

[ Success. She closes both hands around his -- and the fire -- and looks up with a bright smile, unharmed by the heat. ]

Tada. I'd be a great campfire buddy, I could rescue any s'more that fell in.

[christ, that could have gone pretty damn badly. the unexpected turnaround reminds him a little of when Dio had shaken off Zeppeli's attack so easily, although obviously in a much better context. the whole thing gets him laughing.]

I don't think anyone wasteful enough to drop a s'more deserves your heroics.

[ she snorts ]

Yeah, that's a pretty fucking short list as-is.

[Jonathan smiles, and then lets the ripple-fire on his hands go out. no need to push this until they find she has a limit, after all.]

I'd hope so. If you did it for the wrong people you'd likely startle them into dropping a great deal more.

Yeah, definitely. [ She drops her hands again a second or two after the fire dies away, hovers with them for a second, then pockets them. ] Heroics from Ramir? My roommates would probably assume demonic possession.

I was referring more to the ability to plunge your hands into an open flame.

[whatever her outward face might be, it really wouldn't surprise Jonathan if he ever saw her performing a good deed.]

Oh. Yeah, well. [ In a land of superpowers, she's pretty sure she knows what would be more startling from her. She shrugs. ] Anyway, s'not just fire. That was just a handy demo.

[ She pauses, realizes what she's said, and grins. ]

Handy, get it?

[Jonathan sighs and looks upwards in a facetious long-suffering sort of way.]

I think someone might need to lend you a hand with those jokes.

[yes, that was absolutely on purpose.]

[ There's a quick pause for that to sink in, a look of delight, and then another pause where she scrounges for a suitable comeback to something as wonderfully awful as this. ]

Yeah? Got anyone in mind? I'd reward handsomely. [ part pun, part innuendo. she couldn't be more proud. ]

I can't say that I do. It takes a great deal of training to get a handle on something so complex.

[yeah, didn't know that Jojo Prime had a terrible sense of humor, did you? the wonders never cease.]

[ This transcends laugh and enters into the realm of a cackle, followed by a sharp elbow to his side. ]

I give. You win, hands down.

[he ducks his head a little, but there's no way to disguise the ways his shoulders are shaking in withheld laughter]

I'm glad to hear it! Thinking up any more relevant words would have proved too much of a handful for me.

[ She snorts, but she's quick to straighten up with a shake of her head. ]

Okay, seriously now, fuck it. I'm out. [ She shoots a solemn glance up at him. ] Puns are the lowest form of humor, you know.

[ that might explain why she loves them ]

Well, I never claimed to have much of a sense of humor.

[so, you know, he's allowed to do whatever the fuck he wants. no one suspects it of him.]

Yeah, right. You got one, it's just... quiet. [ She's seen those subtle jokes from him, and bad puns just cement it. ]

I'll try my best to keep things low key, then. I'd hate to startle people.

[with the revelation that he can make fun of things, obviously.]
