[The video feed pops on, showing Kaneda on his bed with...what looks to be the remains of something electronic. Something...pretty familiar. So familiar that it may match what you're holding in your hand to watch this said video. Wires are spilling out of it, some not even attached anymore, and the casing looks like it got bent like a spoon.]

So.

Anyone know how to fix a busted comm?


[A hand reaches up to rub the back of his neck as the other gingerly picks up the device between two fingers, wires dangling.]


I'd say technical difficulties is understating a biiiit~ but I guess it depends on your point of view.

[ He snorts in amusement. ]

You threw your comm at Bull? Did it, like, make a tink noise when it bounced off his abs?

And yeah. [ He shrugs, though it goes unseen. ] I've smashed a few comms on jobs when I was younger. Had to piece 'em back together as punishment. I'm guessin' these ones are basically as complicated.

[The screen goes black for a moment, before he opens it back up. WHOOPS...]

[A hand rubs the back of his neck.]

Leeett's not do this in the house...Any place we can meet up?

Dude. [ He says it flatly. ] Teleporter, remember? I can meet you pretty much anywhere.

[ He pauses, considering. ]

There's this one diner a couple blocks from you guys. They have that weird, eclectic decor thing going on, with magazines and record albums hanging on the walls. The one with the deer heads mounted behind the register. Know it?

[Oh right, Quill had that. Well that makes rendezvousing pretty easy, doesn't it?]

Yeah, they've got kickass milkshakes. I'll meet you inside.

[ because Peter 'ports there once the call has ended, snagging a booth. By the time Kaneda is there, he already has a milkshake.

so maybe he was using this as an excuse to get sweets so what you aren't the dessert police. ]

[Milk...shakes? Oh boy, this is going to be one of those revelations, isn't it? No dessert police here more like cyberpunk caveman learning what an actual treat is.

It doesn't take Kaneda long to arrive, the device slung by a bag on his elbow as he walks in. Dodging that deer head, he moves towards the seating area, smirking at a waitress before sliding into the area across from him.]

Made it! You ready to see--

[His chin goes down to the table, squinting at this milkshake.]

[ Peter watches the display, amused Mostly because the way he's looking at his drink reminds Peter of when he used to dubiously inspect whatever plate of food the Ravagers would plop down in front of him. It tended to be fifty-fifty on whether or not the food was palatable, though, but there's really no going wrong with milkshakes. ]

It's just ice cream, mixed with a little milk. Want one?

[rassera]

[Just from the description, Kaneda perks back up and widens his eyes. Milk was a little sensitive on his stomach, but there was no way he was going to pass up liquid ice cream.]

Hell yeah!

[His neck cranes to try and find a waitress, setting the bag on the table to free an arm to hail her.]

I think I remember hearing Americans were huge on these things...

[His other hand reaches into that bag, slowly taking out the larger, more intact pieces of the device.]

He...did a number to it.

[ Once the waitress has been called over and a chocolate milkshake has been ordered, Peter lifts up the comm. He whistles as he does, a bit of metal clinking out onto the table. ]

Understatement of the century. And still no clue what pissed him off so bad, huh?

Did someone do that switcheroo thing to him? Link him a video, but it turned out to be "Never Gonna Give You Up"?

[He picks up a piece of the...mess with two fingers, as if the thing would jump and bite him if he held it too close.]

No idea. You know how Tetsuo is. Doesn't exactly give a guy any help.

Figure if we fix this thing, we find out just what pissed him off, you know? I mean...not even -I- can make Tetsuo break his comm!

[ Peter smirks as he goes through the pieces. ]

Obviously that just means you've gotta try harder. You mind if I take this back with me? I figure if I can't get Humpty Dumpty together again, my buddy can.

[His hands splay out, smirking.]

[He holds up a finger, leaning over a little.]

I want it back before Tetsuo gets it.

Why? You gonna put weird porn on it? 'Cause I gotta figure that's the sorta thing that'll put you right back at square one.

[He picks up one of those pieces, brows raising.

Honestly, he hadn't considered that one. And had this been a different time with a different angry psychic, maybe. But Kaneda likes being alive.]

Noooot exactly.

Good idea, but not exactly. [His voice ducks down. a bit quieter.] Bull told you, right?
