It's been a while since I've seen new faces on the network. [ Her smile's warm, but a little troubled. They were the first imPorts to be brought here for years, or so she's pretty sure she remembers hearing when they'd first arrived. Can it really bode well that more are coming through? ]

You must have a lot of questions. I'm sure those of us who arrived here earlier will do what we can to help answer at least some of them, so don't hesitate to ask.

But there was something else I wanted to bring up. Valentines' Day is in a couple of days. I think making your own gifts adds a personal touch, and I thought some people might feel the same way, but not know where to start. Chocolates are a pretty traditional gift -- I was going to make some for a few people tomorrow, so if anyone would like to come by and learn, I'd be happy to show you how to do it yourself.

If enough people are interested, I'll see if I can find a bigger place to accommodate us, unless you've got any suggestions. And if you want to teach people how to make something else, you're more than welcome to come.

I haven't quite decided on that yet. [ It'll be dependent on how much chocolate is left over when she stops sneaking away bits of it to eat herself... ]

I was thinking truffles might be good, because you can use the same basic recipe for a lot of variations.

Truffles may be deceptively simple, but they often don't catch the attention of the less experienced.

Of course! I'd be more than happy to. [ Well... she'll try to remember not to eat it all is more like it. The less-than-upbeat tone doesn't go unnoticed, but she doesn't pry, for now. ]

It would be if we'd chosen to be here in the first place. But the Porter's just as much of a mystery to us as it is to the locals.

It's been almost a month since we arrived here. At the time, we were told that the last wave of imPorts was six years ago, and that they were all sense home four years ago.

Did they ever mention why they brought a group of imPorts here six years ago?

The way I understood it, they weren't the ones responsible for activating the Porter -- they're still studying how Porter technology works at all. They've only been able to replicate it on a local scale.

I don't know that much about the details, though. You might want to try speaking with Moira Nomos if you're curious.

But don't worry. I asked permission from some of the cafeteria staff at the university -- they said they didn't mind letting me have people in there for an afternoon.

And yes, I make my own when I get the chance. The last couple of years I was usually traveling around this time of the year, so this is the first time I've done it in a while...

I'm sure they must always appreciate that sort of personal touch. Most people would simply go out and buy something. I know I'm no gourmet, really, but I don't have anyone to give to, either, so it matters less.
