[The camera turns on, it's a dimly lit area, a small box of sorts made of wood. like a bed built inside of a box. It's cozy, and lit by christmas lights. Shadow leans in the corner looking world weary for a change. His dog is leaning against his side and bringing her legs up as he continuously pets her belly as he speaks.]

Anyone else up this late? I'm having trouble falling asleep right now.

Been a lousy couple' a days, a lousy week, and tomorrow's my birthday. I don't wanna feel like shit all weekend so like... any nightcrawlers out there wanna hang out or gallivant around in De Chima?

Keep a cat company for a while?

[Aside from the kitten crawling into the small space from a compartment above and the dog at his side, and the two other cats just out of view.]

[And he ports to the door. There's no light on so he's down in a couple of seconds. Kitkat at his side, coming along with them off leash as usual.]

[She has to check on the puppies to make sure they're alright before she makes her way down.]

[When she sees him she offers a weak smile. God they're a sad pair, aren't they? She'd even let him buy something weird if he wanted. She misses it. She misses so much about home it's become a physical pain in her chest that lives there now. It's set up home and even put out a 'home horrible home' mat.]

[Puppies, indeed. He knows how that is since he had found himself responsible of one only a few months ago. And she's growing up now.]

But I don't... But you just got me stuff for Christmas.

[Growing up without presents on your birthday, or at least nothing outside the family, and nothing wrapped, you kinda end up lacking an expectation for gifts.

Given that he ruined his clothes again in the most recent incident however...]

I guess I need new clothes.

[At the mention of her Christmas gift to him she just shrugs. She knows what it's like to have a birthday this close to Christmas; even though she's not going to mention it.]

Hmm. Most places are closed right now. We cooould hit up the sights. The stars are really pretty right now. Or we could eat out. The fanciest we could get is probably some fast food. I wouldn't mind a cheap double cheese burger about now.

[Shrug.] Whatever you wanna do! You're the birthday cat!

Huh? [It seems he was taken a little off guard this time.] Why wouldn't I care about that? We're friend's aren't we?

[Then he beams.] Besides, birthdays are serious! No-one likes having a crummy birthday.

[He rumbles, then huffs.]

I dunno! I've never done anything for my birthday before.

What are friends for? [It's hard to tell if he's addressing their little scuffle or if he was pretending this was all about the birthday thing.]

Never done anythi-- [He almost looked insulted before taking a deep breath and going into educational mode, leaning closer to the screen.] Shadow. Listen. Birthdays are the most important thing to happen all year, next to Christmas. Most kids get all their friends together and hang out somewhere. Like a bowling alley, arcade, at their own place, stuff like that.

But you don't have to do that. Take it from a kid who's seen plenty of birthdays. Basically you can do whatever you like best. Preferably something you don't do often. You gotta make it special.

And since things are a bit different when we're heroes that can travel anywhere, any time, we have a lot more options.

Does that give you any ideas?

Did you give those tickets away yet?

[Because he wants to go to this disney land place. Wouldn't that be interesting?]

The Disney ones? Hold on. [He reaches off camera and pulls the two tickets into view.] Nope! I got them. You still wanna go?

[There was no way he could say no to a kid whose never had a birthday bash before. That's just evil! Not like he knew what he was going to do with the tickets anyway.]
