[The camera turns on, it's a dimly lit area, a small box of sorts made of wood. like a bed built inside of a box. It's cozy, and lit by christmas lights. Shadow leans in the corner looking world weary for a change. His dog is leaning against his side and bringing her legs up as he continuously pets her belly as he speaks.]

Anyone else up this late? I'm having trouble falling asleep right now.

Been a lousy couple' a days, a lousy week, and tomorrow's my birthday. I don't wanna feel like shit all weekend so like... any nightcrawlers out there wanna hang out or gallivant around in De Chima?

Keep a cat company for a while?

[Aside from the kitten crawling into the small space from a compartment above and the dog at his side, and the two other cats just out of view.]

Hey, if I were younger and not dating someone I'd totally be interested.

[The odd thing is that she might have been. Gwen didn't really care about species when it came to people. People were just people.]

[He actually says nothing to that, just giving Gwen a look, begging her not to lie to him.]

[She crosses her arms.]

I'm not lying. You're a great person Shadow. You're a lot nicer then Kevin was when I first met him.

[She rolls her eyes at the memory of her and Ben's first meeting with Kevin and subsequent fights till they sent him to the null void.]

He was completely unlikable.

[Which really says a lot for how far he'd matured since then.]

But he wasn't a giant fluff ball either, I bet.

[He stands outside, huffing at the cold air and watching the water vapor rise from his lips into the night.]

So how'd he actually get likable? Or are you just weird? [Gonna nudge her in the shoulder at that one.]

No, he was ten different aliens at once and trying to kill my cousin.

[It's said with more frustration at the memory then anything else. Kevin was a total pain in the neck back then.

When Shadow nudges her and asks if she was weird she can't help smirking.]

It was a little less then a year after we sent him to the null void. It used to be this extradimensional prison. We met up again and he wasn't as much of a complete jerk; he even helped us. Even if he did grumble about it and make fun of poor Cooper the whole time. A few years later we crossed paths again and he kept helping us. Then, I don't know, we just sort of clicked.

I don't think I'd be that forgiving. I mean even the prison part, if he was trying to kill me or my kin.

[He shrugs, then glances to Gwen, frowning slightly.]

Not that good of a person either. You thought it was bad when I was chasing down a criminal to give him a few slashes... But... [Or maybe he shouldn't really go into all the gruesome details of Neverland.]

I'm just sayin' that I'm no hero.

It's .... [She sighs, remembering when Kevin absorbed the Omnitrix after they'd all managed to become friends, after he and Ben had practically become best friends and she and Kevin had started dating.]

Complicated. And it's not about being a hero, it's about doing the best you can.

[She stops and turns to face him.]

I know you try really hard to do the right thing. That's what makes you a good person.

[He mulls it over, giving Gwen a funny look. Perhaps that's why they get along. Because she's willing to put her faith in a guy like Kevin, or him.]

It's nice to have someone who believes in you.

Well you've got me.

[She believes in him, especially after she experienced the darkness that he's up against daily. ]

I bet there are other people too, you just don't know it yet.

[Then she knows that just the mere act of sneaking in somewhere would probably help him keep from doing something far worse.]

Maybe a couple.

[He nods to her and continues walking. Now the thought of those other two options would be nagging at him.]

At the very least there's that Gogo girl.

[The plan is to keep him positive and remind him of the good things he has.]

You should just call her Gogo.

Or do you like, not like her or something?

[He pauses.]

Maybe you do still have lion in you. That sounds awful catty. [Pun!]

[She winces.]

See, now that sounded like a Kevin pun.

[Seriously, some days she wondered how she suffered through those.]

It's not that I don't like her, I just don't know her.

His puns are admirable then. I like him.

[From word of mouth, anyway.]

You wanna get to know her? Just come over. Have dinner and watch TV with us.

She won't mind.

[Oh, getting to know people. There has to be a way to sidestep that doesn't there?]

No, they're corny and he knows it. He's a complete dork.

[Her hand goes to the locket under her shirt, fiddling with it a little.]

Corny puns are the best puns.

[He glances back at Gwen and starts moving a bit in the direction of the Mall, which was a bit east from the taco place. C'mon, follow me.]

[She rolls her eyes because she sees what he did there.]

You realize I know what you're doing right?

You realize it's good for my psyche to cause a little bit a' trouble.

An' it's harmless trouble, and you know you wanna. [Just look at that face, Gwen. He is determined to have 'fun' tonight.]

I'll watch from outside.

[Just because he's breaking and entering doesn't mean she has to.]

Then you'll miss out on all the fun.

[He gives her a sidelong look, grinning at her.]

Besides, it's you who is the anti social one. You should want to go to a mall when nobody's there.

[And there's that brow raise at him again.]

I'm not antisocial, I'm just... driven.

Driven to stay in your room 85% of the time, and work the rest of the time.

[He knooooows. He also knows that Gwen will probably would have a blast in there even if she wants to be a goodie two shoes.]

You should do that thing. Like in the movies.

Where music plays and the person tries on a bunch of outfits and the other person laughs.

Cos' we're just window shopping. And trying clothes on. [He's gonna grab her hand now and pull her along.]

"I'm not doing the thing and I'm not that bad." Even though she knows she is. She's never really out of her room unless she has to be because she doesn't want to get attached to anyone other then Shadow in case they go home or she goes home. She doesn't want to be missed or miss anyone else.

"You are! And you should because you don't get to have any fun." C'mon, don't tell him you don't want to.

"You're making excuses." Heh. Damn right she is. She knows that breaking a few rules won't hurt nobody.

"I'm not making excuses and I said I'd keep watch." She refuses to go into the mall though.
