Hullo, all.

So...The days are short, the air is cold (except in Heropa), and all of us are struggling with lingering embarrassment from all those mis-sent texts. So, to give us all a bit of cheer, and in recognition of all the holidays we've constructed to help us deal with winter, I thought we all could give one another a bit of love.

So! How does this work, then? Well -

1. Go ahead and post your name in this post.
2. People respond to you with things they like about you, lovely moments you've shared, et cetera.
3. You go out and respond to others with things you like about them.
4. NO BEING AWFUL. Do NOT give backhanded compliments or secretly troll people or things like that. The point of this is to be good to one another. Go be good to one another!

Oh! This is an adorable idea. How about Lapis Lazuli? She has such a unique strength and interesting perspective on things. I think more people should spend time getting to know her because she's such a fascinating individual.

[ And the girl definitely needs friends. ]

she sent that woman soap for Christmas last year for god's sake!! what could have prompted her to do something so totally off the rails as this?]

What do you mean what? I've enjoyed our conversations and I'm sure others would enjoy conversing with you as well.

I don't really want people getting to know me.

[they ask questions like, 'what's your favorite color?' 'do you want to hang out on Saturday?' 'could you watch my menagerie of animals with limited instructions for a week?']

It's only through meeting new people that we can meet those we will go on to call dear friends.

That's ok, I already have one of those.

But he isn't here. Aren't you lonely?

No, I mean I have one here.

Oh? Who is it?

His name is Gran.

[she has a few others, too - and more, if she would count the ones who were ported back to their own worlds. but they're as lost to her as Steven is, and so Lapis can't list them in good conscience.]

Gran. I don't believe I've met him. Is he somewhat newer of an imPort?

[oceanthief]

I guess so. I don't really keep track of time all that much, but he still hasn't completely gotten used to being here yet.

Usually a good sign of being new. So what is it about him that you like enough to call a friend?

[oceanthief]

He's an alien too.

[there's...other stuff, obviously, but Lapis doesn't quite realize that this is supposed to be a list rather than a simple answer.]

And as an alien, he's better able to understand you?

[oceanthief]

I don't know about that, but he knows what it's like to be on a planet that doesn't make any sense.

Is his world anything like yours? Or is it just different from this one?

[oceanthief]

No, he's never seen a gem before coming here. [just like everyone else.] That part's not really important anyway.

[flowerette]

Well, I don't necessarily mean with gems. There could be similarities that go beyond that. Circumstances both of your planets went through or similar relationships with humanity. Just something that causes you to make a connection to one another because that's usually the starting point of any friendship.

[oceanthief]

[she considers this heavily for several minutes.]

He likes stars.

Well, it's a start, I suppose.

It's not as common as you think. It took me a whole week to find really good starmaps when I first showed up here.

Do you have a telescope?

I don't need one. I can just go up and take a look for myself, for the most part.
