[So far, Nick has been avoiding his assigned residence. In fact, he's avoiding any and all larger pockets of people. Being pulled away a beat before dying would be enough to shake anyone up. His friends are gone, the world hasn't been devastated by plague and the Dark Man. Stranger stil, he can hear what everyone around him is thinking.

Unsettling on it's own, but Nick has never heard anything in his life. Born deaf, he's suddenly forced to cope with a cacophony of noise in his head and it's been more than a little frightening. What he has found is a quiet corner and a chance to type out a message and hope that someone can help.]

I guess I'm part of the latest band of arrivals to the city which means I should probably introduce myself. My name is Nick Andros and the world I come from is very different. I'm also deaf, so if you see me, just get my attention. I'm perfectly fine with reading lips, been doing it my whole life.

And if there are any other telepaths, or people who can hear things in their head - I could use some help.

Charles had almost immediately begun to speak with the intention of leaving a voice message in his curiosity, but instead realized the error quickly. For a moment, he debated going straight for the man's mind with his own, though the flaw in that plan became apparent more quickly even than his first plan. ]

I never really understood what 'loud' meant until I got here. It's been overwhelming to say the least.

Oh! Yes, I remember that feeling very well. I was young when it began. I almost thought that I may be going mad.

At first it might be difficult to distinguish which voices belong to your own mind, and which do not. Often if you are able to focus on the voice that belongs to you, you can start to make the others quieter. Personally, I have not found a way to make them go away completely; but that may just be me!

I'll try, thank you. I've never heard voices before so picking them apart isn't easy. [It feels impossible, but maybe he can try, as long as he has someone to coach him through it. Give him a few minutes to try and sift through things..]

I'm Nick, and thank you. I might just do that. This is all a lot to take in. Superheroes, waking up halfway across the country, some odd Cold War standoff. [And the whole 'waking up' and 'not dead' thing, but hey, one existential crisis at a time, right?]

I must say, I found that unusual as well. While it had escalated where I was from, I did not see it lasting this long. However, I admit that the superheroes are a normal staple where I am from.

It did, but it had been over for a few years before the plague hit and kind of made it all a moot point. And they were just pointing missiles at each other rather than supercharged humans.

They are? How did people deal with that?

To be honest, they.. didn't. Not yet, anyway. There are people here from a version of my world that seem to have made it to a place where superheroes are commonplace. They are still relatively secret, for me.

There are a lot of people from worlds that already had superheroes, strangely. But plenty had only read about them in books or seen them in movies. I didn't even know what they were before I came here.
