Firstly, you honestly think the government will let you stay out of the country for that long, passport or otherwise?

Second, and more importantly, do you know how selfish that sounds?

And there's nothing selfish about ensuring others' safety.

There's nothing selfish about severing all connection from people who care or are concerned? There's nothing selfish about keeping yourself away from where you could do more good for others in the future?

Not when the harm I'll do far outweighs the good.

You'll make more progress where you're forced to deal with your powers and their consequences; not in some far-off place where no one can reach you.

I operate on rationality, on some semblance of reasoning. And to detach yourself from people, when your issue only is an issue around people, doesn't seem like a very effective course of action. Especially when I'm certain that there are plenty of individuals willing to help you here rather than there.

If there's a willingness to help, regardless of the risks, then that's the decision they've made of their own accord. You shouldn't deny them that.

Then be clear about them. You'll still find someone who will aid you.
