[ Hello, network. Are you ready for more of Kanan's face? Today, he's not wearing his usual mask, so everyone can see his milky, sightless eyes, and the rather nasty scar across them, to boot. Who knows why he isn't wearing it today - is it deliberate? Did he misplace it? SHRUG. ]

Hey, everybody. It's been... a week, that's for sure. For some, worse than others. [ Kanan got it pretty bad, guys. PRETTY BAD. ] Given how rough this week has been for some people, I thought I'd offer to share some basic meditation exercises, if anyone is interested. I'll be at NeoJedha in Maurtia Falls this afternoon. If there's enough interest, maybe we can make it into a regular thing - classes, or something. Meditation is a good way to focus your thoughts and relieve stress.

In other news, some of you may have listened to the first episode of my podcast, and with recent... talk, there seems to be some questions, or confusion, going around about Jedi and what we are. To try and clear some of this up, the next episode of my podcast is going to feature a special guest, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. We might talk about some... heavy stuff, but hopefully we can get a dialogue going. And if you have any questions for me or Master Kenobi, you can direct them to me, and we'll try to answer them for you.

[ He offers up a faint smile. He doesn't see any point in rehashing the same old arguments, so he won't. Instead, he turns, grabbing something and holding it up for the camera. ]

Also, I can't believe you actually have these here. In my world they're called meilooruns, but here I guess they're... kiwano? Anyway, this world has some pretty great food - pizza is amazing - but it's nice to find something familiar from home, too. Hera's day got made.

[ And when Hera's happy, Kanan's happy. ]

Hey, Poe. I know you're going up to the space station soon, but I just wanted to say thanks - for keeping an eye on me while my memory was kriffed. At least I didn't... do anything really stupid.

[Eli's voice is hesitant. Surprised by the apology.]

I don't [...] I don't think you have anything to apologise for. [If anything it should be Eli apologising for everything.

Yeah, Thrawn is blue. Eli smiles.]

[His tone is fond.]

Oh, thank god. I realized I hadn't caused, uh, all that after speaking to a few people.

I'm still sorry. No one should have had their past ripped open like that.

We...we can talk, whenever you're feeling up to it. All I need to do here is make sure I didn't put my roommate into a coma.

[ Hoooo boy where to even start. Well. ]

[ N...ailed it??? That's... probably the nicest thing Kanan can say about the guy who's been hunting them for like a year and who recently threatened to kill him. ]

Anyway - sure, yeah, I just wasn't myself this week, so I was... saying some stupid stuff and generally acting... not normal.

And I think some people might've gotten some of my memories, so if you did... uh... sorry.

[ He's got a lot of bad ones. ]

Yeah, well, you didn't deserve it, either.

[ Since he's pretty sure some of that stuff he saw was Chise's memories. ]

I'll be at home today until about 3, which is when I'm leaving for the dojo.

[ Wait, did she say...coma? ]

...you know, if Thrawn's in a coma, you could probably just... leave him there a few more days. Couldn't hurt, right?

[Eli doesn't know this, he might have more tact if he did. Oops.

He feels his face flush.]

I'm sorry if you saw anything [...] weird. I know you don't like the Empire and you [... as the conversation progresses Eli's voice gets quieter.]

You came by the bar but it was fine. I mean.

Whatever I might have seen of yours, I, uh, it's — it's private. I have no intentions of telling anyone.

I do remember coming to the bar. I was a few sheets to the wind by that point, though.

[ Kanan's mouth tightens a little. ]

Funny enough, I trust you. That - is a really weird thing for me to say, let me tell you, but, there you go.

Um, but if you think you saw something of mine, can you let me know what it was? It's... well I mean I'd rather know than sit here wondering forever, you know?

What I saw of you it was mostly... well, Thrawn. Just bits and pieces. No big Imperial secrets, so don't worry about it.

Oh, this should be interesting.

[Although by his tone he sounds more cynical than excited.]

Yeah, I wanted to ask at the bar but... [Eli trails off, there is a rustling sound like he's shrugging.

Then he smiles, it means a lot Kanan that you would trust him, okay?]

I wasn't a very important officer, I don't have any secrets. [Well, Chiss secrets but...]

They're your memories so, yeah. I mean, of course.

[Eli does take a deep breath to steady his voice, it isn't his but it feels like it is — Kanan's pain and — the moment is so private that he just wishes he could forget it, as a courtesy to Kanan. To respect his privacy.]

What the Empire did on Cynda and that person you lost because of what they- no, because of what we, did. Kanan I saw his death as if I were you.

Okadiah's.

[Eli says his name as if that carries all the apologies, the sorrow, everything that needs to be said and cannot be encapsulated by words.

What? The fruit?

[ He can't imagine what you could mean by that! ]

Your little chat with Kenobi. I look forward to tuning in.

[ There's a brief silence on Kanan's end at that. Okadiah. There's a name he hasn't heard in a while. He thinks about him sometimes, of course, but it's not something he dwells on often. ]

Ah. You might've heard of the incident on Gorse? Count Vidian's execution?

[ It had made the HoloNet at the time, though of course the Empire's version of events was wildly different from what actually happened. They'd covered their tracks pretty well. No one - as far as Kanan knows - outside certain rebel circles knows it was actually them, even to this day. Vidian had been screwing over the Emperor, and so that hadn't been allowed to stand, and the Empire had taken full credit for discovering the plot. ]

[ Kanan's always wondered what it is with some people and wanting everything they say to sound sinister, somehow. Maybe with some people that's just how they sound. But others seem to do it intentionally, like it's meant to scare him and not just sound absurd. Oh well. ]

Uh-huh. Well, I hope you enjoy it.

[He's not sounding sinister on purpose. It's just his voice. He couldn't make it sound light and fluffy if he tried.]

[Eli knows there is no shame in crying but he refuses to start right now, in the middle of a conversation over a man Eli was indirectly responsible for.]

Some of it, after. It made the rounds, ISB apparently tightened up their supervision of other prominent figures. Not that it made much difference.

I'm guess that what I know and what you know is vastly [...] different.

I mean, they got the gist of it right. Vidian was trying to defraud the Emperor.

It's just that it was kind of us who figured it out, and, well. Informed the proper authorities.

[ Kanan pauses a moment. ]

Okadiah was an innocent. And he wasn't the only one who died on that moon. Just because Vidian was jockeying for more influence with Palpatine.

[ Kanan pauses, because that name rings a bell. Racking his brains for it for a moment...

Ah. ]

The... legendary bounty hunter?

I see.

[... Eli sounds resigned.]

Not surprising and, of course, were the Empire to admit help from rebels it would've shown them as weak. [Eli's tone changes, no doubt in it.] They still should've acknowledge the truth. If they had perhaps talks could have been made.

Less people would have suffered or died.

[Does apologising to a rebel make Eli closer to becoming a traitor? Perhaps, but this is something Eli can live with.]

I'm sorry, those are just words, I know. But. I'm sorry.

So you've heard of me.

[Renowned as the best during the Clone Wars, his later activities were less well known. Possibly thought to have retired or died - although maybe in secret also worked for the Empire, having done jobs for Sidious in the past. Not that these details would be widely known at all - and Bane himself is not from that later era so he's also not aware of them - but his reputation as a premier bounty hunter would be public enough knowledge.]

[ Kanan sighs. ]

You don't have to apologize. But you're hopelessly naive if you think the Emperor would ever talk to anyone, or actually listen. He gives orders, and anyone who doesn't follow those orders - or who gets in the way - dies. Period.

If Vidian hadn't been lying, if the thorilide output had really been that good - Cygna would've been destroyed in a heartbeat, and everyone on it and Gorse obliterated or left to rot.

Well, yeah, I fought in the Clone Wars.

[ There were lots of stories, about lots of people, back in those days. And a bounty hunter who specialized in fighting Jedi wasn't going to go unnoticed among their ranks. ]

[The question is merely curiosity. He doesn't have a personal grudge against the Jedi like Grievous does. He only went after them if it was for a job or if there were high- paying bounties on their heads. He didn't care about either side, only what they were offering to pay him. It just happened that more often than not, the shadier jobs that demanded top fees were on the Separatist side.]
