Here's a question for my fellow long-timers, and medium-timers too: has living in this universe changed you? Whether it's through experiences, culture, the people you've met -- do you think you're fundamentally different, on a scale small or large, from the person you would've been if you'd never been grabbed by the Porter? And if the answer's yes, how does that change make you feel?

I just realized today at lunch that I like meat in jello now and I am horrified and ashamed of myself.

the person i am here is basically the person i am back home, only more.
im working with more heroes, building more tech, meeting more people.

ive always been an extrovert, but here even that stretches a bit.

Yes, I think I am. I like the change, even if there have been some pretty upsetting things happen to me here. Then again, upsetting things happened to me back in my world, too, so no place is perfect. A lot of good things have happened, too, though -- things I literally could not have experienced back home, no matter how much time passed for me back there.

[She won't get into the details, because some of them she doesn't want to share with the network at large or anything.]

I've never heard of meat in jello??

Anyone that says it hasn't is lying.

Although I don't know that many of us have reached your level of jello-y depravity. Congratulations!

I honestly just came in here to also be horrified that you like meat in jello.

Considering the level of technology on my world is crossbows and horse-drawn carts, I'd be a fool to say no.

Why would anyone ever put meat in jello?

I haven't been here long enough for anything to change, I'm just here to be horrified by your tastes. Who willingly eats meat in jello?

I believe so. The changes I am thinking about are not as trivial as a type of jello, but significant. Actually, given that I have acquired a taste for chocolate, perhaps some of the changes are as trivial.

i have no doubts at all about that
sometimes i think i would hardly recognize the girl i am now, had i met her three years ago
and as a person who knew me longer ago than that, maybe you'd agree

as for the meat jello
i'm sorry, we can't be friends

I think it will make me sad. Because I know things in the future now, that I won't back home, and there's nothing I can do to change that.

I don't think I've changed much, but perhaps that's because I keep being sent home. Perhaps I'm more relaxed.

But meat in jello is certainly a terrible consequence I do hope it won't happen to me.

Yes, absolutely.

But that's a part of living, isn't it? Growing and changing with time? If I wasn't different,
I'd be disappointed in myself.

The biggest difference for me is that I'm alive here.

I have choices here too. That's made me different. I still have my old baggage, but I see the possibility for new things now and to decide what I want for myself. It's kind of scary at times, but it's a mostly a good feeling.
