Sadly, Captain Holiday was put under intensive care not long before I ended up here so I never got to talk to him. But I was hoping some of you might have gotten a chance to contact him before that. If you have, I'd appreciate if you could tell me about your conversations with him.

You don't have to tell me what the conversation was about, I understand a lot of them were confidential. [That word, he hates it. Lois might see it as a sign that she's pulling the right strings but Clark only sees it as a wall he cannot punch or fly over.]

It's really him I'm interested on. If you noticed anything weird in how he behaved, perhaps, or if he was acting completely normal.

[He pauses for a second. And then:]

I'd also be interested in talking with people who've been able to take a look at the Porter, or been in contact with it. I understand it's a privilege to be allowed near it?

Still riding the investigation train? What are you looking for, anyway?

[ for him now it's it's more routine. Billy's the last one who met with the Porter and actually stayed put, and as far as the others went in that unfortunate paint ball game, well--they were ported out, but that wasn't really all that surprising (coincidence or not). ]

If I knew what I was looking for it wouldn't be a investigation, it'd be me looking for a confirmation. I'm not really sure, there's just something fishy about the way they handled Holiday's 'illness' and I want to get to the bottom of it.

As for the porter, aren't you curious about the latest findings yourself? Plus, if we're going to find a way back home it's our best best.

Actually, I'm more curious as to where they came from. It seems Freddie Lounds didn't exactly check her sources before she posted the info from her anonymous tipster. Unless you'd like to believe everything that Freddie Lounds posts, and we already know she's of questionable journalistic integrity.

As far as the Porter, I believe I can be of some service there. Nothing that was gained in that meeting is all too helpful, but if you're curious, I'm sure I can arrange something.

On the other hand...Well, okay, on the other hand, she's not actually all that peeved, because it's over and done with and because she honestly wants to like you. [Clark purses his lips. Anonymous sources are a thing he's very much used to, they are an easy way to get scoops... but they are also usually not that trustworthy. There's a reason they remain anonymous, after all.]

I want to know what they did to get that privilege. Why the locals trusts them with access to it. I want to know if they have noticed anything like what Miss Lounds was sharing earlier.

I know that the people who met the Porter won some sort of contest. Paintball, if I'm not mistaken.

[ Whatever that is. ]

But that was a while ago. Before the Porter started acting up.

I think, the problem with whether Holiday was normal or not stems from the fact that... well, we knew him for a limited amount of time. From what I noticed, he seemed stress, but...

I know this gig, I'd expect it from anyone.

That's the thing. I talked to his husband, and he said he'd had... an episode before, but the symptoms he described could very well be an anxiety attack, or a nervous crisis. It'd have been far too easy to get him out of the way and claim he had some sort of serious illness.

But the question is: did they have a reason to do that?

Huh. Sorry, I didn't really delve into his personal life. [ A pause. ]

They might have a reason, they might not. Shooting in the dark normally leads us to getting a little fucked by guessing. [ A beat. There he goes again. ] It's worth looking into, but guessing kind of...

I don't know. I really don't think the government here is that malicious, but... we don't know much about Holiday, not enough. Did his partner have anything else to say? Suspicions?

I've never talked to the man. But, you'd probably be interested in talking with some of the people who were here before the both of us.

I can give you some names if you want.

I'd appreciate that. I'd rather meet the man himself, but that's apparently going to take a while- and I wouldn't want to make things worse if the man does need his treatment.

But there's something weird about this whole situation. I want to find out what.

If you'd like the information that's been gathered about the porter, I can give you exactly what I gave your "anon" friend up there. It's not something that's a secret, so much as a lot of guess work about the government. We also have first hand footage of it, but again, it's a lot of dead ends.

If you're interested, I can whip up a copy and paste job from my conversation with her.

I'd really appreciate that. Sometimes it just takes someone new to glance at the information. Or maybe I will not see anything you guys haven't already guessed, but I'd still like to have all the information possible.

To me, Captain Holiday seemed like a pretty straightforward bloke. [ yes, john is using rank. ] You asked him a question, he'd answer it. No dodging, no half-baked excuse.. it was pretty refreshing.

Which is a very weird quality nowadays. [Clark is, honestly, very good at dodging and making excuses. He had to become good at it, if he was going to be able to keep his secret identity. So he can appreciate a man who's really honest.]

Did you get to talk with him often?

Last I spoke with him was early September. He had been absent at import-related affairs for a few months until then, and I hadn't seen him at all after. But he had reasons for that. I imagine those reasons have only compounded further now that he's been taken out of commission.

He wasn't the most personable man, but it was hardly his job to be our friend, and he did what he was able in a position that seemed most often to be against his favor. He deserved respect for it, at the very least.

[ he didn't seem to mind her smoking either, she rather liked him actually. ]

He did seem to be at least partically on our side, from what people have been telling me. Which is why the government taking him out of the way seems a bit suspicious, even if they really had their reasons.

Would it be possible for us to meet up? You were listed as one of the people who've been here the longer and I could use a little insight.

I didn't speak with him, just read the other conversations.

[ there's a pause, and a shrug in his tone. ] He seemed completely normal. Rational. Level. Well adjusted.

[ the way thomas says it makes it obvious that he thinks the entire diagnosis is a bunch of horseshit. which, really, he tends to be pretty frank about anyway. ] If there was anything about him that was going unhinged, it set in abruptly and developed fast.

Everyone seems to agree that there was nothing wrong with him, at least nothing noticeable. His husband did say he had had an episode back in September but even he suggested this one had been far too sudden.

[He sighs, scratching the back of his neck.] It doesn't make any sense at all. Why would they rush to pull him away from us? Especially in this way, it was obvious we were going to react to it.
