ok so anyone on here have advice on writing college essays?
i'm trying to get a head start before midterms and i'm just kinda
staring at the question blankly

ok here is the question:

Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.

Hi. [ she huffs. being a teenager is hard. ] Look, before you ask again, my best friend is a guy. And when I can't sleep sometimes he comes over and sleeps with me. And my best friend isn't going to stop being a guy if you ask me out so you have to be, I dunno, okay with that.

[WELL THAT'S NOT EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS EXPECTING. There is a stunned silence for a few seconds.]

[Infinite relief. Still, it's kinda weird, but like. Nothing he can't handle. Right?]

[ but that would mean subjecting someone else to her nightmares and no. when she can't sleep, stiles is still going to be the first person she calls. best friend privilege. she should probably notify him that she considers him her best friend, but that's also a no. ]

[ a beat. she has a feeling this is going to become a thing one day. but for now... ]

Stiles. [Sounds like a chump's name. :/] Does he know about me?

[Luckily he is cheered by her answer.]

Oh. Okay. [He smiles.] Cool.

[ ummmm he knows some boy made her cry. :D ]

I don't know? You've probably come up. [ has he though? maybe not by name, but surely there's been some mention... no, there hasn't. except for when she mentioned the ear thing. to be fair, it's not like stiles has come up to jayden either.

she's so good at this, wow. ]

[He's not sure he likes that answer, because a male bestie named Stiles has definitely never come up before. But whatever, Jayden's never really talked about his other friends much himself. He's pretty close with some girls, like Annie. And she's not just a girl, she's a war criminal. He probably shouldn't be judging Abigail's choice of friends.]

Does he go to Heropa High?

[You know, he's just curious. So they can all hang out sometime. ~~Or Jayden can put his fist in Stiles's face~~.]

No, he goes to the imPort school.

[ she's definitely mostly teasing. about the jacket. ]

Heh, yeah. [His accent becomes comically thick.] Brothers from Motherland, we must stick together.

[He becomes mostly American again, although his mirth seems to diminish.]

When did you talk to Yuri?

[ she laughs softly, obviously amused. ]

I ran into him when I was getting my lemonade. [ you know, the rose tea lemonade she is literally addicted to and drinks like five times a day... that lemonade. ] I mentioned tutoring you when we were talking about... what I want to be when I grow up, basically. He said I should seize the future I want so... [ she hums a leading sort of noise. ] You can thank him for this.

[ she might not have said yes if that conversation hadn't happened. ]

[Oh yeah. By now he knows that lemonade.]

Really? He said all that to you?

[This is kind of news to him because Yuri has been such a Grumpy Gus lately. He finds it surprising he was encouraging anyone to do anything.]

Well, um, I'm glad. Really glad. I'll make sure to thank him.

—Hey, uh, I guess this might be a decent time to mention this. Did you hear about that imPort charity date auction thing we're supposed to go to next week?

[ abigail is a unicorn, okay jayden. serial killers love her. ]

Uh-huh. With the base jumping thing. I signed up Freddie for the auction. What about it?

Wait, you signed Freddie up for the auction?

[Bursts out laughing.]

Of course I did. [ it's said much the same as duh. ] Its for charity and Freddie Lounds will bring in so much money. And if they look gross, I'll just bid on her myself

Okay, well, I kind of got bullied into signing myself up, too. You know, to show them what a good cooperative imPort I am, since I can't actually do any hero stuff.
