I've found myself dealt a hand of cards I'm not sure how to play. ...What makes a hero? Someone who champions the weak... or maybe even just someone who helps as much as they can? Is it the intent, or is it the ability?

[ he pauses for a moment to let that hang up in the air for a minute before chuckling. ] I don't suppose there's some kind of school where we can learn all about Superhero 101, like using superpowers responsibly, for example. Or maybe to compare techniques for rescuing cats out of trees. [ ha ha ha. ]

I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Phoenix Wright, piano player, and now official superhero. My resume is certainly receiving a long-awaited upgrade, though not exactly the way I expected. [ he has a small chuckle at that, because he can think of so many people more suited to being a bona fide superhero than him. ]

I'm curious about the state of law and law enforcement in this city. If you'll humour me, I'd appreciate anyone involved with the law here to speak up. Or contact me privately.

Oh, and one final thing. Residents of house #25 or anyone nearby. I've contained the fire, but need some help putting it out. [ this is accompanied by a relaxed smile that is wholly inappropriate for his words. what fire, you ask? well, let no one say Phoenix Wright doesn't so much enter a world as crash into it. ]

[ his tone is dry enough she can probably tell he's not buying it either. ] Then the question is how the Porter gets its info... because last I checked, machines weren't self sustaining.

It's more of a sentient AI, I'd say. The Porter in the other universe was.

And that universe was similar to this one?

In some ways. The level of technology and aesthetics are different.

And the government wasn't that invested in us.

Can you elaborate a little more on the similarities and differences?

For one, the government didn't disallow us from traveling out of the country. Certain countries had banned imPorts from entering their borders, but mostly we could go places without being slapped with a warning. They also didn't have files on us, nor did they tell us we had to register with them.

It sounds like they've cracked down on imPorts.

Aside from that, everything else was similar? The type of people coming in, the appearance of superpowers in otherwise ordinary people?

Bingo.

imPorts were brought in the previous universe as a chunk of the police disappeared five years ago. I don't know the whole story behind that; I'd only arrived five months before everything went to hell.

About as funny as them bringing in people from different worlds completely to replace them.

If they did, I wasn't around for it.

Because it was before my time. I hadn't even been in the City a year before that world died.

Hmm. It seems a bit coincidental for there to be two worlds so similar, both with Porters.

What are you thinking?

At the moment, I'm just speculating.

There must be a reason why the Porter from the other universe sent you here, to a world nearly identical to its own. Otherwise, why not return all of you back to where you came from?

( I'm sure there's a connection. I just don't know what. )
