Now that the age craziness seems to have died down and I'm not like ten or whatever anymore. Thanks for that, Hiro. [No. Really.]

So. Since it's been a while and all and Al isn't here. I was wondering if anyone else might want to spar with me? Hand to hand, I don't mind if you don't want to go into using our powers at the same time. I just need someone to spar against, keep myself in shape. I mean, not that working out on my own or helping teach Hiro isn't also a good idea but. You know.

[Having someone to spar against, to keep his reflexes sharp. Having someone that would be able to withstand a punch from the auto-mail. Not only that but someone different would keep him on his toes. Since he and Al both trained under Izumi and know each other's moves pretty well.]

A-anyway, I was also wondering if anyone had any more information on the Porter. I myself haven't been able to figure much and I figured maybe someone else who has been around longer or with more connections than a student might manage if they know more on that.

[Which totally is not him having something in mind. Resolving that the Porter and possibly looking into the native super heroes, especially those that died, would be the best bet in information that might help get back home. Or to bring Al back. Preferably whole. Which he's also still been looking into. An answer to help there in case he's still bound to the armor.

Anyone who knows him will probably be side eyeing this though. For obvious reasons of this being Ed and he tends to be something of a trouble magnet with things like this. Poking his nose in where he probably shouldn't, if Laboratory Five is anything to go by.....]

can't say I'm more knowledgeable than you are, but I'm also quite curious.
if it brought us here we have to be able to get it to do the reverse. it's just a matter of how.

I think a lot of us are. Or should be. The trouble is getting said knowledge and answers when the Porter itself is restricted.

But you're right. In theory, if it is what brings us here and sends us back home, it's just a matter of figuring how to control that so those of us who want to get back home can do so willingly rather than at random as it is now. There's always a way out. Or we make one.

Yeah? Sure! I just don't want to get too rusty. I'm so used to sparring all the time with Al. I mean, training Hiro is good but it's not quite the same. I'll be careful.

[In terms of not using his alchemy, or transmuting his auto-mail like he sometimes does when he and Al might spar together. Al's armor can take the punishment. He doesn't want to actually hurt her or anyone else just practicing.

And. Well. He probably should have expected that last....]

You don't need to worry. It isn't as though I haven't had training--I've trained with other soldiers as well as other alchemists.

[She's not an easy target. Though, she would appreciate if Ed would not stick a transmuted automail arm through her chest, anyway.]

Not a lot. Most of it's probably still classified. Or pretty old, from the last time with the City or whatever. If you want, I can share some notes with you and Hiro, but it's not much, really.

Hey, Ed. I heard a few things about the Porter last year from Moira Nomos.

[Jacob pauses for a moment, because damn... a reminder that Moira is dead now.]

No one knows where it really came from. They just fished it out of the ocean sometime in 1985 and have been studying it ever since. The government used to have more control over it. That's how the first imPorts got sent home. But now, it just does what it does.

[But then. A lot have died, or left. So he can't be sure if she was another imPort or a native. Either way, he hardly knows everyone around here.]

But that's what I've figured - that it was the government initially when they started bringing us imPorts in, with that Laschisis, however it was spelt, at the City?

Moira Nomos. She was the government's main scientist when it came to the Porter. She... didn't survive the Hornets.

The City's a long story that I don't know most of. Apparently that world was destroyed, and Lachesis sent its imPorts here to save them. And when she did, she took control of the Porter in Cape Canaveral. But that's really just a theory- she hasn't said anything or done anything to prove she's in there.

And the Porter... well, I was talking to someone else, and it's sentient, right? Or, at least, the thing controlling it. Whether it's a goddess or a monster or what. So I'm curious if we could contact her directly somehow.

Something like that. I'm not sure how it works exactly. Or whether they'd really let us close enough to really investigate, unless some...what's it, telepath or whatever might be able to try communicate at range.

Yeah, maybe. I don't know about them letting us close by -- is she contained inside, or just reaching out from some other dimension? It's hard to say without knowing the specifics of everything.

[ Though it would probably end up being more like casual teaching than actually sparing. ] It is always good to work on ones skills. Especially in a place that can cause the loss of other abilities.
