So, this is gonna sound kinda random, but. I've been wondering for a little while...what's New York like here? I just wanna know if it's anything like the New York from my world.

Actually, now that I think about it--how does the New York here compare to New York where you came from? If you've ever been there, I mean. 'Cause now I'm wondering about all the different versions of it we probably know.

That's it? Just a regular guy on stilts robbing banks?

They're hydraulic, and he keeps trying to one-up everyone with some kind of armor or scrounging off more successful criminal geniuses, but yes. He is a regular guy on stilts trying to get away with ludicrous and very public crimes.

Does it ever work?

Define "work."

Does he ever get away with it.

Maybe for five minutes. It's not hard to spot a guy in hydraulic stilts and armor.

How does he keep coming back if he keeps getting caught?

He gets released. It's hard to take a man who operates in stilts seriously in a courtroom, I think. Or somebody else breaks him out for a job, for a little while. Somebody more powerful and with more brains.

[That makes a depressing amount of sense.]

Man, why can't the bad guys just stay in jail like they're supposed to?

Bad guys aren't known for their rigid adherence to the letter of the law. Why stay when you can leave and be a fugitive and earn yourself a longer sentence?

Don't they have better things to do? Like hobbies? Everybody's got hobbies!

Somehow I don't think a rousing game of checkers would be enough to keep a wannabe criminal mastermind occupied.

What about other stuff, though? Like being a stuntman, or working for SHIELD! That's like doing all the criminal mastermind stuff, except less criminal!

Maybe you should think about doing community service some day when you're older, and putting the question to them.

I...never thought about that, actually. Like being a villain counselor? Is that something people do?

[That seems so much kinder than all the max security SHIELD prisons. Also potentially a lot more dangerous.]

I don't know if it is or isn't. It's not something I've ever looked into. I wouldn't be much good at it. But it's something to think about.

Maybe I'll try something like that someday, though! Maybe it will help after all.
