[ will had told abigail to stay away from some people (one people) in particular and she's pretty good at it when it comes to person to person stuff, but she knows the network opens her up to the possibility of running into them so to speak.

but she's doing it anyway, it's not like abigail is known for good life choices.

so here she is, chin propped in her hand as she sits at what looks like a dining room table. her long brown hair is down around her shoulders, as always, neatly covering her scars. things abigail will never get: a hair cut. ]

So, considering the recent events, I'm curious. Who here believes in god? Capital G, maybe lowercase, whatever one you like. It's probably been asked before, but-- [ she shrugs. she wasn't here, so she doesn't care. gonna ask it again. ] Devil and Heaven and all that jazz applies, too.

No, you're right. There's no point in giving him what he wants.

Either way, he ought to be in jail. [ His eyebrows lift. ] That he's not speaks poorly of all of us.

There's probably a lot of people that should be locked up. This place doesn't attract just heroes.

Then, why aren't they? I can't believe he's just gotten away with what he's done.

[ she shrugs. ] Maybe no one can prove it definitively? Even bad guys deserve due process.

[mousquetaire]

[ Yeah. This, he's not buying. ]

But he admitted it, in front of everyone. On the Network. What more proof is needed than that?

I dunno. I'm not a cop. [ and she was hauled in for suspicion, so she gets where he's coming from. but last time she was here there was a serial killer on the loose and the cops didn't do crap. ]

And it seems those who are don't see much cause to do anything about it.

[ So maybe someone else should. The police here seem about as competent as the Red Guards of d'Artagnan's Paris.

Perhaps this city needs something different. ]

Masked vigilante. I think it's complimentary status is up to you.

I can do without the mask. And the name. [ ’Batman’? Really? Was every other codename taken? ]

But I’m no vigilante. Even if I can get behind the sentiment.

So do you prefer justice in your own hands or letting the police take care of it. Or maybe like Spider-Man, you would prefer to take justice into your own hands and then drop the bad guys off at the police station.

In my home I am a Musketeer. I would act to stop criminals, in the name of the King.

In this world? I would let the guards - your police - do their duty, but if they failed in it, then I would do mine. This may not be my France, but I will still defend those who need it.

[ D'Artagnan pauses, startled, and then suddenly laughs. ]

You'd better not tell anyone that, or they'll expect someone wise. I'm twenty-four.

[ four hundred and eight. really, calling him 400 is giving him a few years. ]

I guess not, I just didn't think I'd meet someone... you're so historical. You were alive with one of those Louises... the thirteenth or fourteenth or... XI-something or other.

[ D’Artagnan looks like he’s debating talking about this, but at length, he sighs, and gives her a sort of tired smile. He nods. ]

Louis the Thirteenth, and his Queen, Anne of Austria. You know of them, then? I suppose that’s all just history to you.

[theminotaur]

I know some. Not enough to have an actual conversation about them.

[ she offers a sheepish, almost apologetic smile. that's a gap she can't begin to bridge. ]

[mousquetaire]

That's all right. I'm surprised you know any at all.

[ He lifts a shoulder. ]

It seems as though it was a very long time ago, for the people here.

Yeah. Long enough to have been romanticized enough that sometimes I think wearing a corset could be fun and then I remember how much I like breathing. And hot showers.
