[ Cisco sits back from turning the video feed on, his garage/workshop visible in the background, and goes back to fiddling with a project on his workbench while he talks. ]

So, what kind of movies do you guys like? Back home, I mean. I know stuff is weird here and some movies don't exist, and they have stuff some of us don't have back home, so if there's any good universe-local movies I'm missing out on that only exist here, I could use some recs, too. Bonus points if there's any really good alternate universe versions of stuff I'd know from home. Negative points if it's propaganda crap, because there's enough of that on TV as it is.

[ He props up the thing he's working on to get at the bottom of it, and it looks like a projector. Wonder what that could be for! ]

...Is that a projector?

Why don't you just use the side of a building? It's what we did back home.

[Yes, seriously.]

I was always more a fan of the Lugosi films, back in my day.

OH SHIT.

IF YOU WANT SOME GOOD MOVIES, SOME OF THE CLASSICS FROM HOME WOULD DETONATE YOUR THINK SPONGE INTO AN INFINITE ARRAY OF SOFT, MINISCULE AWE PARTICLES. THEY'RE JUST SO GOOD. BUT NOTHING LIKE THAT IS AVAILABLE HERE.

I'VE CAUGHT A FEW FILMS ON TELEVISION, THOUGH. THEY'RE OKAY. YOUR EARTH ROMCOMS ARE PRETTY GOOD.
hands4healing: (Thinky thoughts)

More people can watch the side of a building!

...I guess it depends on the building, though. The general store was what the movie man used back home.
hands4healing: (You make me happy)

[personal profile] hands4healing 2015-08-12 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, we'd only have about...fifty to seventy-five people. I come from a rural farming community!

[...Really. There were probably sheep nibbling on people's sleeves while they were watching.]

A movie night would be great!
foreshadower: Adi Granov. (Please allow me to introduce myself)

Quite so, and there's nothing quite like Lugosi on the screen.

Mind, I'm more a fan of plays, but... since that seems to be a dying art, we'll have to satisfy ourselves with the silver screen, yes?

But you must share your favorite too, if we're going to talk film.
bloodpressured: (and there's nothing wrong with me)

[Opinions on romcoms aside that's rude and misinformed but he's going to be the bigger man and let it go.]

OKAY, WELL, FIRST OF ALL, YES, I AM "PRETTY SERIOUSLY INTO MOVIES," IF BY PRETTY SERIOUSLY INTO MOVIES YOU MEAN I COME FROM A CULTURE WITH A HISTORY OF CINEMATIC ACHIEVEMENTS THAT ECLIPSES ANY ART FORM YOURS HAS EVER PRODUCED.

SECOND OF ALL, YOUR COMMENTS ON EARTH ROMCOMS ARE RUDE AND MISINFORMED, BUT THAT'S TO BE EXPECTED. MAYBE HOWEVER THEY APPEAR DEFICIENT TO YOU IS JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE MIRED IN YOUR OWN CULTURAL EXPECTATIONS FOR FILMS, WHEREAS I, AS AN OUTSIDER, HAVE A MUCH MORE OBJECTIVE PERSPECTIVE. DID YOU EVER CONSIDER THAT?

THIRD OF ALL, I'VE GONE DOWN THIS ROAD BEFORE, SO I'LL TELL YOU, BUT I'M GOING TO PREEMPT THE COMMENTARY AND MENTION OUR NAMING CONVENTIONS ARE PRETTY DIFFERENT THAN YOURS.
hands4healing: (That's so not right.)

[Winry blinks. And blinks again.]

Seriously kill you?

[WHY HAVEN'T YOU MOVED.]

You know, you could always go see Operation Inconceivable. There's a whole series.

Unlike everyone else, I didn't grow up with a TV.

Propaganda was a problem back home too.

[He has had people call him a rat. He'd tolerate the lion jokes.]

Been told I gotta watch this movie about lions, but don't know what it's called.

Dude, I need you to listen to me because this is really important: completely disregard any opinion that puts Dane Cook in a favorable light.

Obviously the only good shit is the classics, and I'm not talking that trash that everybody likes to pretend they've seen for pretentious douchebag bonus points, but the real down and dirty quality movies that endure. Transcend generations and all that shit. Back to the Future. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Groundhog Day. Terminator, but not anything after Rise of the Machines. [do these have a theme??]
