[Kaneda had been in Heropa for a day or so when he say Kazu talking to a certain missing psychic. Kazu was his only clue to where he could be, and Heropa was the last place he'd been. Well, he wasn't exactly wrong; Tetsuo was indeed on the move and causing trouble, Kaneda now in pursuit of him. How does he keep up? Well, he just looked for the trail of betrayal and bitterness (and destruction) and followed that. His bike was fast, sure, but Tetsuo had a good head start, not to mention Kaneda was actually trying to avoid traffic an pedestrians. SHOUT OUT TO STILL NOT HAVING HIS DRIVER'S LICENSE.

Wait.

Traffic.

That's it. While in pursuit, and police sirens heavy in his ears, he pulls out his comm. Hello everyone! Don't use the phone and drive.]

KANEDA HERE!

[Why is he yelling? Well, the sirens in the background, as well as the wind whipping past him makes it hard for decent conversation. What can he say? He's doing this for all of you! He seems to be resting his wrist on his handlebar while holding the phone up with his fingers, eyes kept on the road as he surveys the situation.]

Figured now would be a great time to do a traffic report since some people [see: Quill] think I'm not dedicated enough to my job. Wanna see your traffic?

[His hand flicks the communicator up against the glass windshield of his bike, swirling around to show Tetsuo and a girl he can't seem to recognize off in the distance causing havoc, police just ahead of him in the chase. He knew those guys didn't stand a chance. Call it first hand experience from the Swear-In.]

THERE'S YOUR TRAFFIC, HEROPA. OUT OF THE WAY!

[He weaves past a few of the cop cars, only one following over the overpass that lies ahead. If he can just get past it, it'd be easy to take him down. Tetsuo wasn't much further, close enough to see him do what would normally be too dangerous of a jump for his skill--Oh wait. That's a flying police car in his direction. There's no time to react, except swerve his bike in the least damaging way to impact this.]

SHIT!

[And the feed cuts to static, a scream and a loud, sickening 'clank'. It fritzes for a moment or two, and when it opens back up, despite the video having a few glitches, shows a nice overhead view of the street below the overpass. gravel and dust brushes past the screen as something starts to move it. Seems like Kaneda's still got a hold of it, fingers gripping it for dear life as his initial signs of life move it towards his face. You look like a car ran over you, kid.]

Jesus Christ...Ow.

[The impact had certainly done some damage to him, his yellow shirt with a nice tear at the shoulder to the armpit, and his head hurts like a motherfucker. Some bruising, too, naturally, because he certainly couldn't get enough of that! But for the most part, he's pretty okay, which is more than a lot of people can say from being hit with a police car. Most of them are...you know. Dead. His one free hand reaches up to his hair, trying to get the constant wooziness out of his head before he turns, eyes cast down to--

!!

HE CERTAINLY IS HANGING OVER THAT OVERPASS--there's a slight moment of panic, hands scrambling to cling to whatever stone lie still intact beneat him, before trailing his own body to see just what's keeping him from becoming a pancake on the freeway. Upon inspection, it looks like some twisted metal from the railing caught around his ankle, locking him firmly in place, albeit upside down. Bending up, the puts his hands on his boot ankle to inspect it. Bad, BAD idea. Needles shoot up his side, lacing his entire chest with pain as he attempts to Maybe that car did a little more damage than he realized...and his bike? Well, that's nowhere to be seen.

Slumping in defeat, he holds the camera up and throws his free arm across his eyes. Heads.]

Say, anyone want to help a guy out?

[ lbr Peter is also here to look pretty.

Once Kaneda is safe on solid ground, Charlie peers back over the edge of the overpass, and then back at Peter. ] Can you get to his coin?

[nostalgiabomb]

[ He gives Kaneda a pat on the shoulder as he returns to kneel at the edge of the overpass, looking down at the street below. ]

Probably. Need to know what it looks like, though. Don't wanna be playing Frogger just to end up with the wrong quarter, or somethin'.

[He leans ever so slightly into that shoulder pat, peering over the edge to look at the freeway down below.]

It's a 1 Yen.

[To which his finger makes a circle with his thumb to indicate the size.]

[ He gives an amused little smirk at Peter's mention of Frogger, though it's looking like the traffic below is thinning, probably due to the accident on the overpass. ]

Not that I think you'll need it, but-- [ he fishes a small device out of his pocket and hands it to Peter. It's the trigger for his mask. Charlie's had it since the Swear-in. ] Try not to get flattened, please. My healing skills aren't that great.

[ He takes back the trigger with a grateful smile, tucking it behind his ear. He's missed the damn thing, okay?

But he offers a quick salute in response. ]

Thanks for the encouragement, Gargamel.

[ Without any further fanfare, he disappears from the overpass, reappearing at the edge of the street beneath it. It takes a quick second to reorient himself, but he luckily, he spots the coin easily enough. The traffic has slowed enough that he could probably just run out into the street, but where's the fun in that?

He vanishes again, only to reappear in the middle of a lane, kneeling down to pluck up the coin. And then suddenly he's back on the overpass, flicking the coin to Kaneda. ]

Is that the one?

[Kaneda takes a step back to give Peter room should he need it, trying to hold back any attempt to say that he could get it himself. After that stunt, he can only imagine what Charlie would say.

While Peter's on the freeway, Kaneda's got his head craning over to watch, squinting to make sure he's in the approximate area--yeah that looks about right--that the coin fell in.

His hand reaches up a moment, diverting his attention for only a second to inspect the tear on his shirt...before Peter's back up and tossing him the coin. His hands shoot out to it, catching it in both palms and covering it quickly. Taking a look at it after.]

Nope. Think you gotta head back down--joking! Joking. [His hand goes up in defense just in case, laughing and dropping the coin into his glove where it originally was held.]

...I owe you one. [A glance to Charlie, too, although he knows the answer to that already.]

[animated]

[ He puts a hand on top of Kaneda's head, slightly mussing is hair, as though it wasn't all over the place already from previous events. ]

Let's just go home. Someone got hit by a car, and I'd like to make sure nothing vital was damaged.

Put it on Charlie's tab. He already owes me two drinks for this.

[ when did the second drink come into play, you might ask? probably when he was sent to get the coin. sorry, chuck.

anyway, knows a hint when he hears one, so he puts a hand on charlie's and kaneda's shoulders. ]

[ which is all the warning the kid gets before peter is teleporting the three of them to the living room of nonah's ark. symptoms may include dizziness, disorientation, nausea, and lightheadedness. speak with your doctor if you experience death. ]

[He's about to reply--something something teenager witty comeback--but he's too busy trying not to throw up. Just because you say it doesn't mean everyone agreed to it, Peter!

No sooner had they poofed into the living room than he is searching for something to lean on, the armrest of the couch being the winner as he tries to recover. Vertigo AND teleporting?

The world hates him today.]

Two? Wait a second, when did I agree to-- [ the "two" at the end of his sentence gets cuts off when they teleport, and the way his words and his breath are snatched away really throws him for a loop.

Once they've appeared in Nonah 005's living room, Charlie finds the nearest chair and sits down heavily, waiting for the world to right itself. ]

I think that was cheating, Peter.

[ meanwhile, peter looks as fresh as a daisy, arms akimbo as he regards these two dizzy derps. ]

Pretty sure it landed with the 1 side up. [ he might be lying.

In any case, he flashes Charlie a bright smile. ]

I said "please," didn't I?

[ He stretches lazily, tilting his head one way then the other as if to stretch out his neck. ]

Alright. I'm gonna leave you two to heal up and get lectured or whatever it is you crazy kids do when you don't have company.

Don't forget you owe me three drinks, Chuck.

[ when did it become three?

it will remain a mystery, because soon after that, peter disappears. ]

[Kaneda's about to shove Peter for that, the moment his nausea wears. But no sooner than he stands up, Peter's gone, and all the fight melts out of him as he tilts back, legs brushing against the couch before plopping himself onto it.

Someone's worn out.]

[ It's clear he and Peter need to have a talk about the ever-increasing amount of drinks the wizard owes him, but Peter up and vanishes, so clearly that will have to wait.

Charlie eases himself off of his chair, moving to sit on the edge of the couch, next to where Kaneda has sprawled. ]

Kaneda, I just... what's going on?

[rassera]

[Kaneda's voice seems to call attention to Capsule, who waddles out of his room and flops over to him.]

Hey buddy...

[Sorely, he reaches over to pick him up, resting him in his arms.]

[And then turning his attention to Charlie.]

We're one moody asshole short, that's what's wrong.

I noticed. You wanna tell me what that's all about?

[rassera]

[His hands grip Capsule's fur a moment, before a finger points to him.]

Turns out Tetsuo hates my goddamn dog. Enough to push an argument with me til he snapped.
