first helix ♥ VIDEO;
[ Haen is enjoying a coffee or something (those who've spoken with her, will probably shudder at the thought of her having caffeine) and the bustle of a cafe is visible in the background. The redhead is smiling widely, pleased to make a proper public network post for the first time since her arrival. ]
Hello, imPort dears! I have an offer to make to you today, so lend me your ears~ but don't actually lend them, I have a set of my own and they work perfectly well, not to mention if you need glasses those would be quite the challenge to have sitting on your face without any ears. You could manage, I assume, but I'm not sure it'd be worth the hassle.
Oh, I should probably introduce myself first, before my offer. Unless you don't care who the offer comes from, in which case, just hold on tight for a moment, I'll get right back to what I was saying. Although if you're holding someone's hand, or anything that's soft like a fruit, don't hold too tightly, because you'll make a mess. Metaphorical or literal mess, your choice.
So! My name is Haen, and in my world I'm what is called a genessi!
What that means is that, using my Tracerie [ she holds up a glove made of small metal link and translucent filaments ] I can change people's genetic coding. Little bits of fixes, here and there!
Now, for some reason, these changes seem to be wearing off after a couple of days, but in the meantime, there's a lot that you can change to see if you like it! For example...
[ Haen turns so that her profile is visible to the camera, and a network of delicate, opalescent scales develop on her collarbone, reflecting the overhead lights. ]
See? Quick and easy, and they're just stunning with a nice shirt. I can do all sorts of changes, hair, eyes, skin, scales, feathers, you name it! All of it painless as well, that's a really important bit to mention, unless you're into that sort of thing, which please don't get me wrong, I don't judge, but that's not what I do. Genessi work -- proper genessi work, that is, not dirty genehacking -- is completely safe. And don't you fear a bit, I'm absolutely registered back home, Riesling Tower seal of approval!
Now there's other kind of work that I can do, the things like this are called Tweaks, but there are also Morphs! Hasn't everyone wanted their very own pair of wings or a tail? It takes a little longer but it's just as safe, you have my word on it.
Suffice to say, and I hope I haven't lost any of you dears already, but this was something I did at home and I'd really like to continue it. So if you have any questions, just go ahead and ask, little me won't bite, I promise!

[ OOC: Haen's permissions post lays out more of her ability with examples, but any changes will automatically wear off within 72 HOURS due to game mechanic limits. ]

And I can't be photographed or seen on camera or in video.
It's a sort of side effect, I guess.
no subject
A side effect of what?
no subject
My power, is all.

I do love a challenge though, not that I'm saying you yourself are a challenge. Will you give me a couple of days to think on it? I would very much like to help you.
no subject
Anyway, I'd be more than happy to wait on it.
I take we'll be keeping in touch?
((shall we just keep it in this thread?))
That's right, I'll let you know when I think of a solution for you. Don't worry, I can be stubborn, I won't let it rest, if it's something that will make you happy.
What's your name?
fine by me, yes! for ease and stuff
There, I even made a happy face.
Anyway, the ID probably says Tobias Matthews, but just call me Toby.
Thrilled to make your acquaintance.

(( two days later... ))
Oh Toby! I think I have an idea. Might we meet so I can test something?
---> private
I'd love to meet. Where's good for you?
Private
Also, I can only meet with you at night.
I hope that's all right?
private;
I'm in Heropa, but I can get anywhere you'd like with a little time. And I don't mind after dark, but you'd better not be planning anything untoward, now!
private;
Just that if I go out in the daylight, I burn up and turn to dust.
It's part of my power, which I'd rather keep a secret.
Anyway, I know my way best around Heropa, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Just say when and where.
Re: private;
Re: private;
I just don't go out in the daytime, is all.
Or watch the sunrise. No, I did that once.
But that's irrelevant at the moment.
[And the memory is unpleasant to say the least.]
Anyway, I don't think you understand.
I cannot stand being reflectionless a moment longer.
Re: private;
All right... if you're sure. I really do want to help you. Should I assume you want this to be private?
Re: private;
Anything else, I think it's best to keep secret, please.
Re: private;
Come by where I work, around 11pm? It'll be closed by then with no one around.
[ He'll receive a location file for a sound effects company in Heropa. ]
action;
[Toby is actually crashing at someone else's place in Heropa after a misunderstanding with his boyfriend who he'd just moved in with. As such, it's so much easier to wander about some before finally showing at the sound effects place. Come to think of it, this isn't all that far from the Vegemite modeling place he used to work at.
Anyway, he's still about ten minutes early when he reaches the entrance. Sure enough, the place is closed, and Toby wonders if he should perhaps knock or attempt to buzz someone or... maybe just wait around? He does that for the time being. Besides, if nothing happens, he could always text her saying that he's here.]
Re: action;
I see you found the place all right! I hope it wasn't too much trouble. There's a nice conference room we can use.
Re: action;
Not at all. I used to work somewhere near, so I'm familiar with the area. [He gives her a small smile.] Pleasure to meet you face-to-face, by the way. So, is this your workplace?
[Because he still can't quite gets the keycard out of his mind and is struggling with a valid explanation for it. He doesn't want to think she'd stolen it or is "borrowing" or anything.]
(I apologize for all the absurd typos in the last tag, I was phone tagging!)
[ She leads him through the darkened hallways confidently, heading as promised to a boardroom, her choice of which quickly becomes evident as one wall appears to be a floor-to-ceiling mirror. There's no one else in sight in the building, not even cleaning staff, which seems a little odd. ]
Here we go! Let's take a look at you. Or, not take a look, I suppose, is more accurate. But only until we give this a whirl, hm? But Toby...
[ She catches his eye, her head tilted concernedly. ]
You know I can't make this permanent, right? Not yet, there's something gone a little amiss with how me genework functions here.
it's ok, that happens too
[So he follows her through the halls, and it's empty as expected. But things are still a little weird in a way that Toby can't really place.
When they finally reach the room, he looks at the full-wall mirror and sees Haen reflected back in an empty room. He turns to her, their gazes meeting.]
Right. I think I understand.
[He wonders that it'll even work but tries not to be too doubtful or incredulous.]
no subject
[ She's taking the modeling part literally, it seems.
Haen looks at the reflection as well, noting that there really is no trace of him, even though he's standing right beside her. And while she has a million questions about just what kind of power might cause that, it's secondary and can wait. She rolls up the sleeve on her left hand, showing more of the strange glove she wears. It's made of silver metal, all formed of metal links and pieced together like lacework, although it's not solid; her skin's visible between the many spacings. The thin, fiber-optic like filaments are glowing faintly in the room. ]
Now, we're going to try just a small area first, so let's do just one of your hands. What I'm going to do is check your pigment cells for anything that's missing, and correct it if it is. If that doesn't work, we're going to give them a few pokes and prods, and change how they reflect normal light. Sound good?
no subject
But that's there, and now they're here. He swallows when he sees that glove—he's never seen anything like it and can't help feeling intimidated. Still, this might get him a reflection, so he wants to proceed with whatever they're doing.]
Yeah, sure. Uh, wait. Does this sort of thing hurt?
[Because he'd at least like to brace himself for it just in case.]
