[The thing about employing text is that when you start using it when all your broadcasts are in video, people tend to question why you've suddenly switched. So he makes the decision to instead compose himself as best as he can and use video instead.

Unfortunately, he always sort of overestimates his ability to compose himself. He certainly doesn't seem distraught, or panicked, or anything of the sort, but he's definitely shaky. This is definitely a far cry from his normal, slow, quiet, lengthy broadcasts.]

You won't have that say. Nor do you need to continue to be concerned about my situation. I'm all right now. I know I'm not Ki- I'm not a murderer. And so if it happens again, so be it. I'd feel better about myself helping, instead of being afraid.

[He doesn't even know where to begin with that. It's almost... hurtful, if Light bothered to reveal anything of that nature to anyone.]

Are you serious? Do you hear what you're saying right now?

I am not willing to cause such suffering to you again, Mr. Yagami. And I will take all steps necessary to prevent it.

[Mr. Yagami sounds so distant, in the context of their conversation. He isn't sure he likes it much.]

But I want to help. I want to help because I'm worried, and I don't care if I have to "suffer" again for it. Does that have no bearing on your decision at all?

Because of this, there seems to be a hitch in the flow of his words.]

I - It's because I care about your well-being. And though I realize the same not apply in your opinion, I do like to consider you my friend -- or at the very least, someone I can respect.

[But Edgeworth shakes his head at that, hardly even hearing what the boy is saying.]

[The stubbornness begins to flare up within him in spades.] Really.

How have you not brought me any good? And other than the completely accidental use of your powers, what harm have you done? If I'm so blind, I would like for you to clarify.

That harm is sufficient.

It was my mind, and therefore that's for me to decide. And I've decided that it's negligible compared to what you're doing to yourself.

The good far outweighs the bad, you know. Don't just disappear from the residence one day because of your own guilt.

[A beat; he's doing his best to glean what he can from Edgeworth's expression.]

Then you're the blind one. Either that or I appreciate the conversations we've had, the times you've humored me when I'm bored, more than you do.

Yes it is. [In retrospect, he'll perhaps think he's being a little too honest for even his level of comfort. But right now he wants to get his point across in the only way he knows how.] I'm a nineteen year-old who's been torn from his family, from his world, and unceremoniously tossed into this one with no real explanation as to why. I was brought here in the middle of something very important, very dangerous, and it takes every ounce of effort I have to not sit around and just think about home all day long.

But you've been good company ever since I arrived, even if we don't always... agree on everything. It's not much, but it's something. You shouldn't dismiss it so readily, because I don't.

[He doesn't know how to deal with that. The emotion clearly plays in his face, but he just says, weakly:]

[He furrows his brow; Light doesn't look ready to end the conversation there, but a few seconds of silence pass before finally:]

[His tone turns even, matter-of-fact. He purposefully makes himself difficult to read, something he's mastered.]

Just a few basic questions before you go: When are you leaving and returning, and where do you plan to go?

I - I'm leaving in an hour. And - I will be going to Canada.

So you'll be gone by the time I get back to the house?
