There are things about you, you humans, that I have never truly fathomed the reasoning behind.

Why do you love?

[It isn't something he has ever understood, as a being of Fear who's sole existence has been about survival things like love are somewhat out of his ability.]

There is no logic to it, no... clear reasoning. It only brings you pain and suffering in the end. Only ends in sorrow.

What drives you to put so much investment in to another individual that you lose the will to continue on without them?

Explain this to me, for even in all my watching and years of knowing your fears of losing it I have yet to understand why.

You should already know the answer though, shouldn't you? You've seen how all animals work, how beneficial it is for a mother to 'love' it's young, humans survive in many ways.

I see how their fears work, how that drives them to fight or flee or shut down and stop trying. I am not a being of love.

"Love" isn't such a mysterious phenomenon. Humans are social creatures. They are biologically hardwired to develop bonds with others as a defense mechanism and to propagate the species.

On an individual level, of course, answers will vary depending on one's personal experiences with love. But, if you examine humanity as a whole, I believe that's the long and the short of it.

You do realize emotions fall under the category of "irrational," such as the "irrational feelings" people have, or why people will work long and hard on emotional repression to remain in control of themselves in a sensible, logical way.

Love is part of that. It's not always logical, and usually not reasonable. You might love things or people you also hate. You might hate the people or things you're supposed to love.

Fear makes sense, it is a survival mechanism. Love doesn't keep anything alive beyond foolishness as far as I've ever seen.

I'm not really sure it is something that can....really be explained or put into words. Feelings aren't rational, and you can't really explain them to someone who doesn't understand. Love is caring for someone. Wanting to do anything for them. Wanting to see them smile, hating when they're upset. At a base level, I guess. But there's also different kinds of love. Family. Friends.
