This is Major-General Olivier Armstrong. If you can ignore the bevy of Imports wasting our time with their age-changing frivolity, I have an announcement to make.
It's no secret that whatever their other feelings towards us, the natives of this world recognize that we Imports pose a threat to them. For how could we not? We have powers they can scarcely conceive of, let alone match. Even a single Import could outclass a regiment or more of this nation's army.
Therefore, I am hereby announcing the formation of RISE: the Rogue Import Suppression Enforcers. We Imports shall police and judge our own, apprehending those among us who would prey on the most vulnerable of this nation's native population and passing sentence as necessary.
Those among you who wish to lend your aid to the RISE mission are welcome. I await your questions.

No matter what decisions we make, it's not gonna look good for us. If we're lax, then they'll think we're trying to escape justice by holding ourselves to a different authority than theirs. If we're strict, then it'll look like we've got no loyalty even to each other, so what's to say we won't turn on the government here one day?
You say you wanna keep politics outta this stuff, but the only way that's gonna happen is if we stick to just helping take criminals down, and leave the rest to the system that's been here a lot longer than us.

Like it or not, there are two tiers of people in this nation with our arrival. We deserve the right and the duty to police our own kind.

Unless what you actually mean is that you think 'cause we have powers, we're above being judged by them. Which I'm seriously hoping you don't, 'cause that kind of thinking is just as dangerous as anything we'd be trying to stop.

SORRY FOR DELAY hiatus happened
I just don't think this sort of thing would end well for us. Either from the distrust we could be sowing with the locals by having a hand in the sentences of imPort criminals, or from causing infighting amongst ourselves.

If it causes infighting amongst our own ranks, then they can't care much for justice, can they?

You saw how they were considering straight-up kicking the unsettled out onto the street at one point, right? Maybe it was just an idea that never got put into practice, but it was also sort of a threat, if you think about it. A reminder that we only have rights as long as its convenient to the government. If backing this thing of yours doesn't pay off for them, or starts causing them trouble vote-wise, they'll turn their back on you just like that. And it won't just be your group that suffers if that happens--it'll be all of us.

You don't have to get involved. But my decision has been made.

[A small sigh.]
But I guess I can't stop you, and it'd be even worse for us to be divided in how we deal with imPort criminals, between takin' em to the regular cops or to RISE, so.....I'd be interested in getting involved.

I intend to keep a disciplined, organized roster. I've never tolerated disorder and corruption in my ranks at Briggs, and I won't start now.

[And if anything shady starts happening he'll be the first to raise a very loud fuss. So. There's that.]
So how's joining up going to work? In general, I mean.

It won't be live-fire. Not the initial assessment, anyway.

[A bit of a pause.]
I'm guessing since the military's allowing this, you're only allowed to take the Registered, right? How're you gonna keep the system fair for the unsettled?
no subject
i forgot to mention all of these tags were audio
And...they're letting you do that? I thought the whole "only the registered can fight crime" was like, a cornerstone of their whole dumbass system.

...No one unsettled is gonna get in trouble for joining up? For real?
[Because even if he has his misgivings about parts of this, that is awesome.]
