[ Peter's had enough. He's tired of trailing after the shadows of Sylar like it'll get him anywhere and he's done this already. It got old the first time he got shoved off a rooftop. It got even older the... second? time he helped kill Sylar. And now? He's just over it. Long past over it. And he's not going to apologize for his behavior.
Which is why he's now taking a page out of Claire's handbook. Especially since he's figured a certain something out.
... Peter's seated plainly at a table, a rather large kitchen knife laying in front of him. You know, one of those you see running rampant in horror movies. ]
Hey, Sylar.
[ He smiles plainly, picks up said knife and waves it in front of the comm, his other hand resting palm side down on the table. ] You paying attention?
[ A second later, no hesitation, he slams it into the back of his hand, barely managing a flinch in the process. Though he doesn't look particularly comfortable when he goes about twisting it around. For. Y'know. Posterity's sake. Keeping Sylar's interest is important, here. Another few seconds and he pulls it back out, tossing the knife to clatter on the table. Shoving his palm into the screen of the comm device, it only takes a second or two for the wound to begin healing, knitting itself together until it's gone completely, leaving behind tracks of blood.
Wiping his hand off on his jeans, he looks rather expectantly at his comm, completely blase. ] So. Interested in talking yet? Or do I still have to come find you.

Look. 'Bout a week ago? I got therapized by a guy full of more shit than I know what to do with. So yeah, go ahead and lay me out because I'm willing to do what it takes to stop a serial killer. That i've stopped more than a few times now. It's gotten old. I'm tired of hunting him down every other week for some murder he's trying to commit. First my niece, then actually killing me, then... I don't know, pull a name out of a hat.
And yeah, it hurts. I got over it the first time he shoved me off a roof and I had to rearrange my entire lower half.

[Because there are only two imPort psychiatrists, and Chilton is one of them. He manages to completely suppress his glee, given the gravity of the topic at hand..]
Hm. Why not pull more people into this? Other vigilante types, I mean, people with powers who can aid your apparent quest. Certainly, certainly, you don't want to expose more individuals to violence, but it seems to me that you and this man are both equal and opposite forces. So why not tip the scales with a voluntary coalition?
For someone that dangerous to fly under the radar this long, that is a travesty.
private
[ You best be careful, buddy. He just got told he's not even remotely interesting enough to speak with. He's not particularly invested in "treatment" when he's just been informed there's nothing even wrong with him. He's boring, got it?
Though, really. He's not sure why this answer isn't so very obvious. ]
Because he's mine to deal with.
private
Chilton wanted a confession, and he just got one.]
Otherwise would disagree, of course. [Devil's advocate.] They'd say that your strategy would improve with an unfair advantage.
But you know this man, this Sylar, better than anyone else, don't you? You know that those others don't see the right endgame.
private
And yes, see- thank you. You get it. You and... Batman. Wonderful. ]
Why wouldn't I? He's from my world. He's killed me. I've seen what he's capable of. I've dealt with him more times than I can count. I have the advantage, whether or not you throw other people in the mix.
The only thing that's going to happen if other people get involved, is they're going to get hurt.
private
But that begs the question -- what happens when you get him? What happens if killing him isn't enough? I've known a few imPorts who have died and stayed dead, yes. [Freddie Lounds. Abel Gideon. Yuri.] Or at least, they haven't returned here. But most of us do.
[It's a leading query; Chilton suspected that Peter has a plan. This degree of dedication didn't come without intricate thought, without detail, and the psychiatrist anticipated that Peter might be the type to overthink things. But he still wanted to hear about the fallout, he wanted to know the intent. To what depth had this Sylar plunged Peter?]
Are you thinking about a sort of -- oh, long term incapacitation? I'm not sure if the current probation and jailing system could handle this type of murderer.
private
But hey, someone who actually thinks him capable. Always a nice change.... especially when he's already glommed on to Peter's intentions of murder. ]
Yeah, I know- killing him here isn't going to do much. Stopped him back home, but now he'll just come back. Dean and Hiro came up with a way to nullify his powers, but after that pisses him off and he convinces someone to get him out of it, we'll just have the problem all over again. He throws around different names here, convinces people he's someone else. He's not an idiot, nobody's factoring that into the game plan.
[ He made it into the White House for a reason, after all. But Peter's squirming - he doesn't know how much he should say about anything. ] I've got a few plans. All of which involve playing into his rules. Because he doesn't know what I can do. And I actually know how his head works.

I wish you luck. If you decide that you would like help containing him, I have a facility. And, being a psychiatrist, I also have access to sedatives.
[Which was actually one of his powers: organic sedative creation.]
And if you need someone to... Discuss this with. After the fact. Well, I haven't judged you yet, have I?
private
I appreciate the access to sedatives, i'll keep it in mind. Don't know if it'd the best or the worst case scenario to drag him your way to keep him drugged up for the rest of time.
[ But oh, c'mon, you just had to bring therapy back into this? Peter so does not look ready to face that all over again. ]
Discuss it with? I'll fill you in on a secret. The other therapist guy? Crane? Obviously missed some key points in psych 101. Not saying I took the class to become a psychiatrist, but when you're being trained for grief counseling, you're supposed to pick up a thing or two. And telling me that i'm not interesting enough to keep as a patient? Pretty clear cut way to prove you're either a terrible therapist, or a really good liar.
So no, you haven't judged me, but i'm still trying to figure out just how full of shit you might be. [ Apologies for the venting, he's not even mad at Chilton. He just doesn't like being yanked around. ]
private
Besides, there were bigger games afoot.]
It's only an offer. I trust that you know best what to do, with regards to Sylar. At least know that I put trust in you.
private
If only that belief was something he was better at actually solidly sticking to.
Though really, the idea that anyone is putting their trust in him seems a little odd and earns a slight furrowing of his brow because why would you ever trust him? No one ever does. He's not sure if he's more confused or suspicious but hey- if you're not lying about it, then he's got one other person on his side. Including himself. Not that it matters either way. ]
I appreciate it.
