[ Peter's had enough. He's tired of trailing after the shadows of Sylar like it'll get him anywhere and he's done this already. It got old the first time he got shoved off a rooftop. It got even older the... second? time he helped kill Sylar. And now? He's just over it. Long past over it. And he's not going to apologize for his behavior.

Which is why he's now taking a page out of Claire's handbook. Especially since he's figured a certain something out.

... Peter's seated plainly at a table, a rather large kitchen knife laying in front of him. You know, one of those you see running rampant in horror movies. ]

Hey, Sylar.

[ He smiles plainly, picks up said knife and waves it in front of the comm, his other hand resting palm side down on the table. ] You paying attention?

[ A second later, no hesitation, he slams it into the back of his hand, barely managing a flinch in the process. Though he doesn't look particularly comfortable when he goes about twisting it around. For. Y'know. Posterity's sake. Keeping Sylar's interest is important, here. Another few seconds and he pulls it back out, tossing the knife to clatter on the table. Shoving his palm into the screen of the comm device, it only takes a second or two for the wound to begin healing, knitting itself together until it's gone completely, leaving behind tracks of blood.

Wiping his hand off on his jeans, he looks rather expectantly at his comm, completely blase. ] So. Interested in talking yet? Or do I still have to come find you.

That's true. Which I guess we should be thankful for. More people with powers means more people are in the know about how to be careful around them.

Doesn't fix everything, but it definitely helps. Only problem is it still means people are on the same playing field. Whole problem with everyone being superpowered.

Yeah. And I'm sure some of us think we're better than the nonpowered for that, but... even if one of us tries something, the more of us there are with powers, the more likely we are to stop them, right?

Point taken. We've still got a heads up, even when it comes to each other. Doesn't mean people won't act out but we've got our own system of defense.

Right. And there are certain people here who I think wouldn't let any kind of weird stuff go down. Like, that military lady.

She was a higher-up in the military at home, I guess. Her attitude hasn't changed at all. But yeah, it always seems to... trouble finds us, rather than the other way around, most of the time.

Y'know, something about the military almost always seems to breed superiority. I mean, I get it for on the field or during training, but when you come back home?

But once you join the military, you're always a part of it. Home or not. [ ..... oops, probably shouldn't be bitching about this. off topic!!! ]

Maybe it's just because we're lucky.

I think it's... something to do with the hero worship some places have about the military. That, and the fact that they probably tell you that you're what's standing in the way of civilization and absolute chaos. So... I think it's just a natural byproduct of the way our brains work.

Lucky or... just prone to trouble. Not really sure, to be honest.

Not to mention the sort of people the military is inclined to recruit. Not saying that they've all got big heads, but it probably helps to be a little more full of yourself under those circumstances.

We're all supposed to be superheroes. Trouble's just how it works.

Is it that the military looks for those people, though, or do they seek it out themselves? And yeah, I guess so.
