video.

[ Peter's had enough. He's tired of trailing after the shadows of Sylar like it'll get him anywhere and he's done this already. It got old the first time he got shoved off a rooftop. It got even older the... second? time he helped kill Sylar. And now? He's just over it. Long past over it. And he's not going to apologize for his behavior.

Which is why he's now taking a page out of Claire's handbook. Especially since he's figured a certain something out.

... Peter's seated plainly at a table, a rather large kitchen knife laying in front of him. You know, one of those you see running rampant in horror movies.
]

Hey, Sylar.

[ He smiles plainly, picks up said knife and waves it in front of the comm, his other hand resting palm side down on the table. ] You paying attention?

[ A second later, no hesitation, he slams it into the back of his hand, barely managing a flinch in the process. Though he doesn't look particularly comfortable when he goes about twisting it around. For. Y'know. Posterity's sake. Keeping Sylar's interest is important, here. Another few seconds and he pulls it back out, tossing the knife to clatter on the table. Shoving his palm into the screen of the comm device, it only takes a second or two for the wound to begin healing, knitting itself together until it's gone completely, leaving behind tracks of blood.

Wiping his hand off on his jeans, he looks rather expectantly at his comm, completely blase.
] So. Interested in talking yet? Or do I still have to come find you.

I've got my family; but it wasn't their choices that put them at risk, it was mine, and so the responsibility comes back to me. Just like in some way Petrelli feels the responsibility for Sylar comes back to him. He must be allowed to face his demons himself; to learn for himself whether or not he needs help, and accept and ask for it in his own time. That isn't to say that your needs aren't also relevant. They are, and when the time comes you'll make your own challenge, but you should know, Dean, that there is nothing so petty and worthless as revenge; revenge and justice are not and will never be the same thing, and you need to decide which side of the coin you fall on.

[ This is probably the most words he's ever said to Dean, but he can practically feel his misery and desperation in those words. There's a loneliness there that he recognises, and it's far from healthy. ]

You need to come to the house. [ That's all he says. ] I'll leave the address somewhere that you can find it.

Revenge and justice are two sides of the same coin. You're telling me that what you do isn't both?

[Because Dean's own work as a hunter is pretty damn close to being both, but it's always boiled down to one thing: saving people, hunting things. And, unfortunately, Dean had wanted to save Peter the pains of facing Sylar on his own. Dean wouldn't have had a problem going off alone, but he was used to working as part of a team and it was always better to know someone had your back.] It's their choice to keep fighting with you.

Wait. The house? Like... the bat-house? [And that invitation throws Dean for just a second - enough to pull him a little out of his misery because did Bruce Wayne just invite him over?] I- When?

What I do isn't both.

[ God, Dean. How can you say you know that you know everything about Batman and still not understand that simple fact? He tilts his head. ]

And in time some of them will stop fighting with me, and go on to make their own choices. Their own decisions. They may end up fighting for revenge themselves, but they won't be doing it while they're under my roof. [ Tiny little implied threat, but not really a big deal there. Dean is his own man, not a Robin. He'll never be anything close to that. ]

That's what I said. And the time will be provided, don't concern yourself with the details.

You sure about that?

[Dean frowns at the phone, not sure that he gets what Bruce is talking about. But, thanks to John, the concepts of justice and revenge have been so intertwined for Dean that he's half convinced they're almost the same thing. He knows that they're not, but what he's done - what his family has done - it was justice, right? And there's no way around the fact that it was also revenge.

He grits his teeth a little at the implied threat, because what? Bruce is going to toss him out on his ass because he's decided that the way that Dean does things is unacceptable? The thought of that shouldn't bother him nearly as much as it does, but after everything he still wants Bruce's approval.
] This isn't about revenge. It's about saving people. Keeping him from killing again.

[And if Dean wanted to be the one to stop him, personally, well. Was that so bad?]

I'll be there.

I'm sure.

[ He'll let Dean stew on it for a while, but honestly it sounds like there's still some kinks he needs to iron out in the young man, things that a responsible parent would have helped him deal with years ago.

God, if John Winchester was here he would probably punch the guy right in the face. SO.
]

We'll speak soon, Dean.

[ Disconnect. ]
