[02] Video; Backdated to Friday May 1st

[ Hey, everyone. It's Walt. You may remember this guy from such videos as drunk posting in his underwear. But in case you don't (and hopefully you don't), Walt is fully clothed this time. He still looks every bit as weary as his video debut, but at least he isn't drunk. That's a plus. ]

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience. It seems as though the Heropa pharmacy was caught up in whatever chaos erupted in the city and suffered some damages. We will be closed until further notice, but I will be doing my best to ensure prescriptions still get out to everyone who used my pharmacy to have them filled. We have a sister pharmacy that has temporarily taken on accounts here in Heropa. Though if it's more convenient for imPorts, I can have things forwarded to the other imPort cities.

Repairs have already begun, so I don't anticipate us being closed for over a couple weeks. If anyone wants to offer their assistance in helping rebuild the damaged sections, it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I hope everyone has been well and continues to be well now that the worst of this is all behind us.

That's a little grim! Some of my best friends are dead. And death isn't permanent here, so I suppose even if you died again, that's not necessarily the end.

But that's flippant of me. Perhaps look at it as found time. The encore to a lifetime spend doing whatever it is you were doing. And a second chance to do what you didn't do before.

I suppose you have a point. A lot of people have been telling me something similar. It's just a matter of finding that purpose.

But I also wonder if death truly is permanent. Has anyone actually lived long enough to die of old age? And if they did, would they simply come back?

That's a good question. To be honest, I'm not sure there's anyone here old enough to find out any time soon.

Ha! I'm looking at your video, and you don't look as old as all that. Unless you just age slowly the way I do! People still think I'm 18. Unfortunately!

But I'm 52. Just as you are bordering the maturity of 30's, I am bordering the edge of senior citizenship.

Bordering, perhaps, but you haven't reached it by any means!

Actually, though, the lifespans of people here confuse me a little. On my world, a person's life can vary widely. If I think about it, there's at least one person who was already an old man when every old man I've ever met was born, so he must be at least 150 or so years old.

Wow, that is impressive. I would ask if he had some sort of secret diet to aid in his longevity, but I imagine it's something other than that. Different worlds have different aspects. What might be fiction in mine, like immortality, could be a very common place thing in yours.

It's amazing to me now that I've gotten over my initial disbelief -- that such things could exist.

In fairness, he is a very spry old man - or so I'm told. I don't actually know him.

But I think that kind of thing definitely does... vary, yes. I imagine it's a little offputting at first - when I came to this world, I was surprised at a great many things, too.

How long ago was it that you arrived? If you don't mind me asking.

Not so long. Early January, I guess.

That's roughly about a month before I arrived. Was it a difficult month? I heard things about this group called the Hornets. I even saw a bit firsthand when the February Swear In got bombed.

I hope your Swear In was much easier.

It was fairly low key, really. I appreciated the time to adjust - it's difficult to imagine how hectic it must be to arrive and find yourself bombed shortly thereafter.

I suppose that means you also missed the reign of Lunatic and the old prison system. Things certainly have changed of late.

Yes, I do believe I missed out on that. And from the sound of the name 'Lunatic' alone, I suppose I'm grateful.

Did you experience it? Or is it simply something you heard about?

I arrived near the very end of it. Lunatic targeted people who had killed - regardless of the reason, whether it was self-defense, soldiering, or outright murder. And when he found them, he incinerated them, more or less - his fire was quite unbelievable. Unnatural, even.

He was captured a month or so after I arrived, though! And then he died in the bombings... the month you came here.

Sometimes it makes you wonder how these people manage to slip through the cracks. After all, aren't we here to be heroes? Isn't that our purpose in this world?

It takes Chrollo a bit longer than usual to answer with that. Because while he may be an excellent pretender at Good Person, he's definitely not one, so whenever someone says something like that... it just... it takes a second, ok.]

That's the claim, anyway. Well, I think Lunatic believed he was acting in accordance with Justice. Which isn't a defense, of course, but I guess the concept of "hero" can vary from person to person and place to place.

You have a point. Even supposed "villains" are heroes in their own minds.
