[02] Video; Backdated to Friday May 1st

[ Hey, everyone. It's Walt. You may remember this guy from such videos as drunk posting in his underwear. But in case you don't (and hopefully you don't), Walt is fully clothed this time. He still looks every bit as weary as his video debut, but at least he isn't drunk. That's a plus. ]

I apologize in advance for any inconvenience. It seems as though the Heropa pharmacy was caught up in whatever chaos erupted in the city and suffered some damages. We will be closed until further notice, but I will be doing my best to ensure prescriptions still get out to everyone who used my pharmacy to have them filled. We have a sister pharmacy that has temporarily taken on accounts here in Heropa. Though if it's more convenient for imPorts, I can have things forwarded to the other imPort cities.

Repairs have already begun, so I don't anticipate us being closed for over a couple weeks. If anyone wants to offer their assistance in helping rebuild the damaged sections, it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I hope everyone has been well and continues to be well now that the worst of this is all behind us.

[ A pause. Well, now that we're on good terms, Hank. Walt is going to test those boundaries a little. ]

You know, I believe things have blown over with Doctor Chilton. We had a very pleasant interaction over the network.

[ That he's pretty sure you saw anyway. ]

I don't believe there's any reason to pursue extending the restraining order.

Yeah yeah. You shouldn't even be talking to him, y'know...

[ Simple things like that he wasn't gonna speak up on, but since it's being brought up? This? Nooo brooo. ]

I'm sure he's all sweet talk and ass pats now that you're forbidden fruit. He's a goddamn shrink, he just wants to get you comfortable and then shake up more of your shit. That or he wants the restraining order to drop to make himself look better. Either way he just wants to prove he's the big man in charge.

Fuck it, Walt. You don't need to try to be the bigger man, here. I met the asshole for myself, I know what he's like. Just forget about him and however he buttered you up. We got actual problems to worry about right now.

[ Good thing this is voice. It's a damn good thing this is voice because as Hank goes on, Walt gets irrationally angry. Hank didn't know a goddamn thing about Chilton. Not his terrible traits. And not his good ones either. ]

It isn't like that!

[ He blurts out before he can stop himself. And now that it's said, he needs to follow it up with something. ]

Look. It was my fault things got out of hand. Chilton isn't some predatory monster hell bent on getting me into therapy. [ Yes he was. ] And I even if he was, I already found a therapist. And said therapist [ Chilton. ] told me now that my cancer's gone, this is the beginning of a new healing process. And that holding on to petty concerns would only serve as a distraction, preventing me from growth and progress.

I want to move on. I want to forgive and forget. I have to coexist with this man, and I would rather it be amicable. There's no denying he's a bit of an asshole, Hank. But I don't think he'll be any sort of problem any longer.

Oh yeah? Your therapist actually think it's a good idea to start being buddies with your old stalker? Come on. I don't remember you running back to any of the other jagweeds that burned you back in Albuquerque, and this guy's gotta be worse.

You can forgive and forget all you like, but you barely have to coexist with Chilton or anyone else beyond the swearing-ins unless you want to. There are a hundred other imPorts you can play with and a big wide world out there. Not like you guys hang around the same circles.

[ Not like Chilton would be working with pharmacists directly. What world would that be in? ]

Went through the fucking trouble to separate you two 'cause you couldn't play nice on your own, and you wanna sing kumbaya now? Too little too late, my friend.

Hank, please. I'm trying to make progress here. Isn't that what you wanted out of me? I'm not saying I want to go out to Sunday brunch with the man, but I can at least have a conversation with him or be in the same proximity as him. The same thing that happened before will not happen again.

This just sounds like backtracking through dog shit to me.

[ But UGH, Walt said it was supported by his therapist so what can he actually do? He's putting up a fight because he feels he has to, but there are much bigger battles out there right now that require his attention. ]

But hey, whatever, I can't tell you what to do. Just don't go doing something stupid 'cause of this and expect me to bail you out again.

[ Because...Hank will always bail him out, even with the bitching. Goddamn. ]

[ The relief is audible in Walt's voice the minute Hank relents. Finally. He can actually stop sneaking around when it comes to talking to Chilton. ]

Of course I won't. [ It was a mistake to go to Hank in the first place. Walt learned his lesson. ]

It'll be fine. I'm getting better now, Hank. I won't project on to him. And to be honest, of the two psychiatrists, I think Chilton is the lesser of the two evils.

[ A pause. ]

I mean. You've spoken to Jonathan Crane. And you probably shouldn't. There's something not right about him.

[ Don't get gassed, Hank. Please don't get gassed. ]

Jesus, Walt, you're not saying anything everyone and their dog doesn't know. He doesn't even try to hide it.

But he's not a cannibal, hasn't bombed a prison or kidnapped a buncha imPorts, and he doesn't threaten cops careers, so as far as I'm concerned, he's more worthy of a beer than a lot of other dickweeds around here. Not right describes two thirds of the imPorts, so don't get me started.

[ LIKE CALL THIS A WIN AND SHUT UP, WALT. ]

Besides, I don't need a shrink so I don't give a damn which of 'em is worse. I'm just here to do my job and watch your back, so have a little faith in me, huh?

[ No, Hank! Walt can't! Digs that hole deeper. ]

I was friends with Crane, Hank. For the first couple of months, we got along very well. But then the more I got to know him, the more I saw that he's hiding something. Something dangerous.

[ It's alright to say this, isn't it? It's alright to warn this way. As long as Walt doesn't sell out what it is exactly that Crane's concocting...this is the best thing he can do for Hank, right?

Either that or this will make Hank investigate him more. Shit. ]

As soon as I realized this, I immediately ended the friendship and have been keeping my distance. But I have a bad feeling about him, and I don't want to see you fall into any unorthodox things he might be doing. He's a chemist too, you know. So please, just exercise caution, Hank.

[ The fucks given on this matter are growing smaller and smaller for Hank. ]

Yeah, 'cause you're just the beacon of stellar decision making when it comes to good ol' buddies, huh?

[ No leg to stand on when he crawls to Chilton and Pinkman no matter what their level of garbage. Hank's not interested in being friends with Crane, anyway, but Hank's not the one that's been driven to cooking meth going to therapy here. ]

Everyone here's hiding something, the government gave every imPort a blank slate. My job's already a nightmare and you're preaching to the goddamn choir, so just focus on your pharmacy and stick a cork in it already.

[ One of these days, Hank is going to see what Walt was trying to warn him about. And while Walt will probably be too distracted being pissed off at Crame, he will want to say 'you should have listened to me.'

But it's clear Hank isn't going to listen now. And the jabs at not only Walt's choice of companions but the attack on his state of mind serves to piss him off. ]

You know something? Don't bother coming tomorrow. I'll deal with this myself. You have enough on your plate and far be it for me to add to that.

[ The anger and sarcasm are just brimming in his voice and he's not even trying to hold back how mad he is at Hank right now. ]

I think I can use my stellar decision making enough to know when to stop talking to someone is holding back my progress.

[ And with that final, angry snap -- Walt hangs up. ]
