So, this is gonna sound kinda random, but. I've been wondering for a little while...what's New York like here? I just wanna know if it's anything like the New York from my world.

Actually, now that I think about it--how does the New York here compare to New York where you came from? If you've ever been there, I mean. 'Cause now I'm wondering about all the different versions of it we probably know.

Oh, back home I run the Young Avengers, and have a version of the team running here. I work with Clint Barton otherwise as Hawkeye.

It's kind of a big deal.

Whoa, Hawkeye? The Young Avengers? Is that like a team of kid heroes?

That's what we started out as, but we're all mostly in the rage of eighteen to early twenties these days. It's been a few years.

Isn't that like normal Avenger age? Shouldn't you just be Avengers now?

Maybe the original Avengers get renamed Old Avengers, or something.

We kind of stubbornly keep our own team going, and none of us are good with new names.

Trust me on that one.

[Read: she sucks at them. And most of them just defer to her.]

So which hero are you? I mean like, your hero name.

...Also, uh, your regular name too, 'cause I don't know that one either.

Oh, sorry, that got lost in the mix there. Clint and I are both Hawkeyes.

Two Hawkeyes? Is that even allowed?

[Says one of two Spider-Men currently on the network. (But that's different, that's only because of weird universe shenanigans.)]

Well...nobody, I guess.

But like, what happens when somebody tries talking about one of you? How do you tell the two Hawkeyes apart?

Well, we don't really keep secret IDs, so that helps.

Oh. Like Captain America or Iron Man?

Don't bad guys come after you all the time, then?

I would really like to say no, but unfortunately the answer is a resounding yes. As long as we've pissed them off enough. [Come to think of it, the fact that Madame Masque didn't go after her father should have been a warning sign.

Then...why don't you keep a secret identity? Wouldn't that be a lot safer?

Probably. But hey, it's too late now. Only Spider-Man really keeps one up anymore.

[Yeah, he'd certainly HOPE he keeps his identity secret. Especially after nearly blowing it within minutes of showing up here.]

Really? Nobody else?

[Thinking about it, though. Who else DOES have a secret identity? None of the Ultimates, none of the X-Men...his uncle did, kind of. But that doesn't feel like it should count. No, the only people Miles can think of are Peter Parker (before he died), and Spider-Woman.]

...Is it a Spider-person thing?

It seems to be. After the superhuman registration act, after the Siege of Asgard, and just about everything in-between, the superhero community got pretty intimate amongst themselves because of all the things that happened, so we found ourselves hiding a lot less.

Then again, Jessica Drew is pretty loudly Jessica Drew, but I think she's not really a "Spider-person" in the ... Spider-Man sense.

Well, she's not really based in New York, for one thing.

You mean there are superheroes who aren't based in New York?

[He thinks he might have heard about Europe having some supersoldiers, once, but he isn't sure. And besides, that doesn't count. As far as this continent goes, Miles is pretty sure all the heroes are based in New York. He'd have heard otherwise, right?]

The Avengers have a base there, but they tend to work more worldwide now. Spider-Man and Daredevil are the main ones who stick close to home.

But not Spider-Woman?

No, and that's partly because stuff got really complicated for her.

More complicated than normal superhero stuff?

A skrull took over her life and ... I guess you can say that it changed everything for her. I know that there were a lot of tensions because of that. How do you reenter a life taken away from you?

I don't know her personally, but I'd say that "alien bodysnatching" is a level of complicated that none of us ever want to deal with.
