[ It took Peter a while to figure out the whole smartphone thing. To be fair though for him 'a while' was like... five minutes. Maybe six. Oh he still hadn't figured out EVERYTHING yet, but like the basics? Totally down. He had to fight the urge to try and take it apart and put it back together again. He had a feeling it was waaaay more complicated then the walkmans and arcade cabinets he pulled apart and tweaked. ]

This thing is so awesome... Like something outta a scifi flick or something...

[ There's a guy with a silver mullet and motorcycle goggles perched on his head on the screen. No really. Dude looks like he walked right outta the 80s. He pretty much did too. There's also an odd high pitched buzzing noise in the background. Technically it was music. A mix of Queen, David Bowie, Rush, and Pink Floyd. Not that most would notice. It was being plaid at like... several hundred times the normal speed. Luckily Peter notices he left his walkman on and he flips it off after a couple seconds. ]

Anyway, hey. Name's Peter Maximoff and it's come to my attention that it is the year 2016. Last I checked it was 1983. That means I'm missing out on 33 years worth of music and that's a damn tragedy. [Clearly that's his most important issue here now. ] So y'know. I need recs from all you future people! What's good? What sucks? I'm not too picky about genre but I gotta have music or I'll probably go crazy.

[ OK so really he's still worrying about his mom and his sisters and the kids at the Prof's school and other family issues that he just really doesn't wanna think about ~~daddy issues don't ask~~. So to keep his mind off things he's just gonna think about music and stuff because running more laps around the city really isn't helping him much. ]

Oh! And video games. There's gotta be like at least a dozen new versions of the Atari and ColecoVision by now, right?

Ehh... Most of the good stuff didn't make it into this world. I don't think they have The Ramones or The Clash--no Sex Pistols or Nirvana or...anyway. If you find some, let me know. I'd like to build up a vinyl collection. Or digital. Whatever turns up, to be honest. If you want, like, circa 1950s or soft-rock, this place is rife with that, but punk-rock is still not really on their radar. Which is a damn shame.

What the hell was ColecoVision? Joystick-plus-TV, like Atari? Or what? You're missing at least a half-dozen Nintendos and a couple Playstations, kid. [Kid, he says, to a guy who comes from before Newt was even conceived.] You should definitely talk to Marty McFly. I think you two are going to have a lot in common.

[ wow this guy looks like Mr. March that is WEIRD Dorian's just gonna file away that bit of information right now. ] Right, since you're from 1983, then that means you'll fully appreciate the tragic news I'm about to give you. [ and then, in a voice that's 100% serious 100% British and 100% distraught. ]

This world doesn't have Adam and the Ants.

Dude, forget music and video games, this world has hoverboards.

I don't know a lot about video games, but they have fun ones at the arcades! You can even play ones on small devices, like phones or uh, "handheld" ones!

Unfortunately, the music here is stuck from before even you are.

1983, huh? I was playing catch up too, back in my world, sort of. I mean, it was 2016 there, but after moving to upstate New York from a small eastern European country, I was exposing myself to more popular Western sounds. But, I don't think most of that stuff made it here, which is sad. [Wanda's Sokovian accent is still present, though less strong than it had been before. That year+ in the US also meant her accent had faded some.]

Anyway, uh, nice to meet you. I'm Wanda Maximoff. [Yeah, she's guessing Peter is from some alternate universe where they're related; she knows how the multiverse works by now.]

Oh man, you've missed like three whole Star Wars movies. And so many good gaming systems! We have handheld ones now. And 3D. 3D handheld.

[If Peter pays attention enough, he might be able to catch that Max seems to be able to recognize it's music playing, even though he doesn't say anything about it.]

The local libraries should be able to give you a good idea on what you've missed. News included.

The video games, you'll be wanting someone a bit younger to fill you in there. I have no idea. [This is partially a lie because he bought Bart every one that was out at the time.]

So you've never played anything on a PS4? Just the Atari? [ containing so much glee. this guy's going to be on his ass when he finds out what you can do with games. ]

I suppose you could always just listen to the radio. I'm sure it would have a reasonably diverse selection of modern music.

You've got more than just a couple of gaming consoles to go through these days. Atari, ColecoVision and the like— they're still pretty popular among video game aficionados, but they're a far cry from the more modern models you'll find around here.

I'm not sure I can help much on the music department, though. Most of what I like is from way back when. Some of it even from before you were born.

Is that...short for anything? The Peter thing?
