[ The message comes out late at night that Leia doesn't expect anyone to be awake to answer. She's pulling a Han right now; the man has a terrible habit of sending these late night texts out. Looks like she's learned from the best of the best.
There's a catch, however, and it's that Leia's locked this from any immediate family and friends*. She doesn't need the extra worry. Doesn't want anyone camping out on her front step. She might have missed someone, going through the directory this late, though. ]
I've spent the last hour trying to go back through what's available. I've also tried browsing what's online. It hasn't worked out so well.
What I'm looking for are remedies. Something that works in helping someone fall asleep and stay asleep without waking every two hours.
When I say remedies, I mean the kind that come in the form of personal experience. If you've had trouble keeping a sleep schedule, please, share what works for you?
( *out of the cast, this post is locked from Luke, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Padmé, Hux, Finn, Kanan, Poe, Kylo, Lando. Anyone else in the cast directory wasn't locked out and receives the message/can reply/can pass it on. )

I did read about that pill. Seems like it could work. Unfortunately it's so late that I'm not sure there's a place open that could sell me something lile that.

There are some teas that can help. Chamomile or lavender are good ones.
[Text]
I've heard of those names being associated with some kind of pillow spray?

I had my first experience with pot a few weeks ago. I admit it did make me a little tired in the end.
I never knew where or how to get it though. Guess now I know.

[ there are a lot more herbal remedies but he hasn't tried those. Also "watching tv until you're too tired to stay awake" probably isn't the best advice to offer. ]
Is it insomnia or nightmares?
no subject
[ Leia had dealt with that poor decision the day after Poe's party. Never again. ]
it's insomnia.
[ That's being caused by nightmares but. They don't talk about nightmares. ]

Is it you that is having trouble sleeping?
[text]
[ Because she's still so new to learning the basic techniques. To do it on her own, it feels like it gets her nowhere, and that's too frustrating. ]
It's me, yes. Only this past week. It was before, weeks ago, and cleared up, but it's back to square one.

If neither if those words then I can look into the melatonin.

What exactly have you tried so far, personally? I'm guessing you want a more natural remedy...

Meditation, mostly. At this point, I'll take any and all suggestions.

that makes two of us
usually I just give it up and go for a walk, see if that doesn't get me good and tired
[Han's giving actually helpful advice? Holy shit, he really is worried.]
[text]
It's dark out. Could be dangerous.
You're still up because you can't sleep either?
Wait. Are you out walking?

- something to listen to can relieve own thoughts - spoken word better for some than music e.g. narrative, weather report droning, childrens programming (reliably lacks violence) - turn visual off/cover screen for sound only
- fresh air if available + ambient outdoor sounds can help or not
- orgasms - masturbation maybe more conducive though bedmate can help depending on relationship/sleeping habits
- a pet who will sleep through the night - reptiles and predator mammals usually best
- dont make goal 'sleep' - make goal 'resting' - relieve some internal pressure / meditation, stretches, breathing, visualizations, etc - as with audio aid: distract/trick self into allowing not forcing
- sedatives worth try - for some can cause restive dreams - avoid self-medicating
[all things he's talked about with others, relatively impersonal (assuming one had the same outlook on physicality/sexuality)
But because it's Leia, someone he still may not be close to but trusts implicitly… fills the request for "personal experience". At all, and in more detail.]
i'd have to offset the space i was in
if sleeping outside - find a way to feel enclosed
if stuck on a ship - take bedroll off bunk sleep directly on deck
find the balance between defensibility and not feeling trapped
when i couldnt quiet my mind
would stay in the cockpit
leave the comms on to chatter or static
focusing on the discomfort of the chair actually helped
as did being able to open my eyes and see stars
rather than being stuck with myself in the dark
and here
jyn
knowing even if we wake up
wouldnt be alone with myself esp if woken by nightmare
so sleeping through the night is best
but knowing that even if sleep is interrupted its okay
get to be aware of holding her
makes the prospect less dreadful
-- common thread possibly
find ways to be able to relax even into sleeplessness
removing the dread and pressure
which can be self-defeating re getting [back] to sleep
all this skewed twd adapting to or rehabilitating from certain conditions
can offer more appropriate tips if none of this applicable
if youre ok sharing own details
no subject
That's...quite the list.
[ She's had to read it over more than once before sending another message. They will not touch on the point about masturbation and orgasms as a sleep aid. ]
What you're suggesting is that I perhaps look into finding someone who will sleep next to me, kind of like using the body heat of someone else to help me sleep?
I've been sleeping alone for so long. How can I get comfortable with the idea of having someone next to me then? [ There's a few who come to mind that she feels she can go to for that. The question was, would she allow herself to do that? ]

Exercise. Gotta get yourself tired enough so it don't matter what's on your mind - your body'll do the rest of the work for you.

A calming conversation, a glass of milk or a familiar book work wonders at times.
Sometimes nothing else but a long run work.
If I may ask, is there something that troubles you tonight?
no subject
I did read that a glass of warm milk might work but I wasn't so sure. And isn't it dangerous to go out this late and run?
[ Leia stares at the question. Yes, yes there was much that bothered her. It wasn't just from tonight, however. ]
Always.
