Hello everyone. I'm Ken Kaneki, and through the years I've been compiling information on everything that has been happening. My notes are available, and I've also written/updated/adapted a FAQ which you can read. If there are any questions, let me know.

On a different note, I was reading through Porter patterns and I'm curious about imPort and exPort activity. If you feel comfortable, please feel free to answer the following questions:

1. How long have you been here?
2. Have you ever been Ported-out and returned still with your memories? How many times?
3. Have you ever been Ported-out and returned without any of your memories? Do you know how many times?
4. Do you suspect a certain event could have triggered your porting-out?
5. When Ported-out, did you return to your world?
6. In your world, did you remember being in this one?
7. After being Ported out, have your powers changed?


As for myself, I have been in this world for a total of 3 years and 7 months - I arrived here in 2nd September of 2014. I have been Ported-out 4 times in total and I never forgot my memories of being here when I returned, even when I was amnesiac. My Port-outs seem to happen every 6 to 9 months, and usually they happen when some sort of stress is involved. Every time I was returned to my world I remained there for a while before I was returned here; the time I spent in my world is random at best since the least I've spent there was a week, and the most I stood there was 4 years. My powers have changed every time, but only to match the abilities I had in my world.

Two and half years is a long time. Usually most wouldn't remain here past a year, but that could be changing.

I know for powers to be changed, the imPort has to be Ported-out, always.

Maybe the Porter knows I don't really want to go home and it's being nice about it.

Not necessarily always? When I got Riza, I noticed my durability went down a lot. I think whatever decides on what powers determined her to be a 'power'.

The Porter is never nice. I'd say it's perhaps because you are interesting or you are useful to it.

Really? Did you check with the government, about your file? If it was changed or updated in any way?

Yeah, my file had changed. So I dunno; maybe because she was born from someone else's powers?

Or entertaining.

It could be, yes. Pokemons are considered powers, so it makes sense if you got one, she'd also be "your power". So basically, one of your powers was switched for her?

Well I know that's not true.

So powers that are "created" here can be swapped out, but new ones or upgrades can't? I wonder if that means that powers can cross between people from different worlds that way...

Really?

Sabriel once taught me how to use healing magic and it also became my power. But eventually I was Ported out and lost said power. [ a shame, because it was very useful ] I'd say that seems to fit, yes.

I wonder if the original holder of the power were to leave, you'd lose it as well. Who gave you Riza?

That sucks; we totally need more people around that can heal on the fly.

Archie gave her to me. Riza's mom was ported out with her owner, and Archie's been in and out, but it hasn't affected her.

[ So if he's ever ported out... nope, he doesn't want to think about it. ]

Maybe later I'll make a compilation of Porter powers.

So "powers" don't seem to disappear when the original holders of the "power" leaves. [ at least not when they are temporarily ported out ] Let's hope I'm not proven wrong.

Good luck with that; that sounds like a lot of work.

[ He doesn't even want to think about it; having an animal around to force him to be responsible and care for and hug when he needed it made a huge improvement on his life. Adachi didn't want to even imagine what he would do if Riza suddenly disappeared. ]

It makes me wonder too if certain conditions were met, people would also be able to obtain new powers from other worlds.

I like to keep occupied. But I guess that's obvious by now.

It could be possible, but I think it has to work like- some sort of transfer? However, I never focused a lot on powers, I admit. Far too many people had none and received them randomly.

Yeah, I noticed.

And it's worth looking into, but I'm not volunteering my powers. One, it would be really hard to find some fog that reveals the shadow of one's self, and two, I don't recommend being around it.

I suppose that will be the topic of my next network post, then. Powers, if someone had them before, it they were given by some other imPort and what they do.
