Hello everyone. I'm Ken Kaneki, and through the years I've been compiling information on everything that has been happening. My notes are available, and I've also written/updated/adapted a FAQ which you can read. If there are any questions, let me know.

On a different note, I was reading through Porter patterns and I'm curious about imPort and exPort activity. If you feel comfortable, please feel free to answer the following questions:

1. How long have you been here?
2. Have you ever been Ported-out and returned still with your memories? How many times?
3. Have you ever been Ported-out and returned without any of your memories? Do you know how many times?
4. Do you suspect a certain event could have triggered your porting-out?
5. When Ported-out, did you return to your world?
6. In your world, did you remember being in this one?
7. After being Ported out, have your powers changed?


As for myself, I have been in this world for a total of 3 years and 7 months - I arrived here in 2nd September of 2014. I have been Ported-out 4 times in total and I never forgot my memories of being here when I returned, even when I was amnesiac. My Port-outs seem to happen every 6 to 9 months, and usually they happen when some sort of stress is involved. Every time I was returned to my world I remained there for a while before I was returned here; the time I spent in my world is random at best since the least I've spent there was a week, and the most I stood there was 4 years. My powers have changed every time, but only to match the abilities I had in my world.

The only reason I'm thinking like that is, as I said, we compared notes. The next major thing in our timeline... is bad.

Though now that I think about it, the last time I was sent home and nothing really happened, when I came back 2 months had passed. I didn't think much of it then--I was too busy trying to get back into the swing of things at work--but now that we're talking about it, it does seem like a very long amount of time to have missed for business meetings back home.

Usually temporary port-outs are a month. I wouldn't say two months is too strange, but it always begs the question "why". Theories on that are always pretty flimsy.

It's something I've tried to avoid about thinking, to be honest. After watching some of my closest friends come and go, it's sort of becoming a coping mechanism.

That said... Have you ever spoken to someone who's from the City? There aren't a lot of them left, but I know there are still a few out there. I'm curious if the port outs work the same there as it does here. If it is, Lachesis might have something to do with it for some reason.

I understand why you'd do so.

Yes, I have. Kanaya-san told me it was pretty much the same. There were patterns, but no apparent reasoning to the things Lachesis did when it came to send imPorts back and forth.

Perhaps Lachesis is just bored, and this is her way of entertaining herself? Or maybe she's trying to tell us we should be more entertaining for her amusement or something.

[Kanaya... man, that was a name he hadn't heard in a while. He missed her.]

Kanaya was a great lady.

I can't help but to end up thinking about it, but I try not to obsess. I too have lost far too many people through the years I've been here.

It could be. From what I know about her personality, that would be entirely plausible.

[ he too misses Kanaya, quite a lot too. So he knows the feeling ] Yes, she was. And greatly missed.

I know for me, if I think about it too long, I WILL start to obsess. It's just in my nature.

I do find it strange that she was so vocal in the last world, yet hasn't spoken to us in at least 3 years.

Yeah. I hope she's happy back home.

According to what the Porter said, it's because she is dormant here. her presence is a destabilizing factor in this universe.

And yes. Me too. Her, and everyone else who was returned.

Interesting. I wonder what it is about her that causes it.

...Most people. Those that were already dead, well...

She can move through time and space, so I would say that's enough, no?

Perhaps, but it didn't seemingly destablize the other world. And I don't think it's something that would destablize where I came from either. I mean, I absolutely could be wrong, but you have no idea how many near-world-ending events there were when I was growing up.

Maybe something changed. Maybe there is something about this universe in particular.

I mean, Atropos hasn't found her, and you'd think she'd be able to get pretty much anywhere.

That's what I'm saying. There might be something fundamentally different about this world compared to the other one, and that's why she's been in hiding this whole time.

Atropos hasn't made it to this world, has she?

Not that we know of. I imagine she wouldn't be secretive about it, so I wish to believe she still hasn't found us. [ instead of being paranoid. He already has too much paranoia on his plate ]

I don't know what happened in that other world, and I don't ever want to find out.

Kanaya said she bit the world in half. Quite literally, according to her

I can't even imagine how that went.

Neither can I. No wonder none of the survivors ever talk about it.
