[After a series of texts early that day, Yuri spent the rest of his morning trying valiantly to figure out how to hide his name from the network. There was a very serious matter he needed to ask about, and he didn't want to think of the consequences he'd face if anyone knew he was the one asking.]
What the hell are you supposed to do on a date? A first date if that matters. Something like that has to be special, doesn't it? So...what do people expect? Do you have to dress up? How do you know who pays for everything?
I really don't know anything about this junk so I'll take any advice people have got.
[Viktor would never let him hear the end of this if he knew.]

It doesn't have to be fancy. Dress for where you're going.
Find something you both enjoy. Hiking, a picnic, a concert, coffee.
Don't go to a movie, you won't have a chance to talk.
Whoever invited is supposed to pay, but it's polite for the other person to offer and for you to split.
no subject
I don't know.
It never came up before? [And even if it had, it's not like he'd have ever spared the time for it until recently.]
It sounds like it's a lot easier than I thought.

If they like you enough to go on a date, you really don't have to overthink the rest of it.

Don't worry, you'll be fine. The important thing is to be nice and be yourself and then everything will work out. :)

If you want to make it more special, you could try surprising them with something new you'll think they'll enjoy. Even if they don't or it doesn't go as planned, you'll have created a new memory together that you can share. (Or commiserate about!) If it's your surprise to them, it's courtesy that you pay I suppose, but they can still offer to split.
The important thing about a date is the people in it and the time you share together, not necessarily what you do together.
[ Good god, is that an honest down-to-earth answer from Viktor Nikiforov?? He had looked a little solemn from the couch in Heropa 17 a few minutes ago, the small smile he had turning a little sad. He's been better since Fanport, but Yuri will still catch him moping from time to time before he tries to perk up again ... ]

So if it's just the people that matter, then it really doesn't matter how special it is?? I always thought it had to be something...I don't know. Memorable. At least for the first one.

under any circumstance
DO NOT take them to a castle called "the screaming citadel"
or anything even slightly ominous
also don't take them somewhere where you'll probably get shot at if you've got a bounty on your head, the date will go straight to hell
no subject
Usually.
And what's wrong with the screaming citadel? It just sounds like a weird name for a theme park or something.

and the most important: 3. do you really like this person?
And personally, I like the person to pay, but on occasion I like to chip in or go dutch, makes me feel powerful.

2 - Some brunch place
3 - Why the fuck would I agree to a date if I didn't?
