Everybody's got powers, right? That's why they want us to stick around...

[You can just hear how much he likes that prospect. He all but spits those last two words out like it's a curse.]

So anyway, I'm curious.

How many of you have 'side effects' from them? Anybody know? I know there's gotta be more than one... but it's not all of you, is it?

I - nnghh. I wanna know why that is... why's it only some people?

Depends on what you mean by side effect, but my power requires energy so it tires me out with repeated use. I can recharge by resting, but I can only use it so much at once.

[None of these dumb persona kids sleep at normal times, obvs. In fact, Shinji seems to be chilling out on the floor with a huge snake flopped over his chest, slowly slithering her way up over his shoulder, as though she's considering climbing what looks to be a cat tree behind him.]

The ones I got when I showed up didn't- they just sort of fed into each other. [Shinjiro shrugs.]

My power from back home is just a huge pain in the ass on its own... but I dunno if I'd call that a 'side-efftec'. What's yours doing?

[Since Tetsuo's paying no attention to his end, his feed'll default over to video.

It's pretty dark in his room. Obvious points of interest are a broken window behind him, mostly visible because the light from the communicator lying on his bed glints against a few jagged edges along the frame, and a puffed up angry cat outlined on a shelf. Tetsuo himself is lit from below by the same light source, and seems to have one hand perpetually glued to his head.]

Didn't say mine was doing anything...

Not everyone has the same kind of powers. It stands to reason the effects would be different for everyone.

I'm guessing you're one of the not-so-lucky winners. [ or a friend? but the former seems more likely, and that guess is the faster path to an answer either way. ]

[Well, Jesse's of the personal opinion that the price for his power was given to him as a sort of divine punishment. But that's not the kind of thing you can just say out loud in public. So he'll put it this way:]

[Eventually he'll work out settings on this thing so it doesn't go to defaults, but for now, doesn't look like Tetsuo's messed with it. Or that he's paying attention to what his own comm's doing whatsoever, though he does look down when the screen flicks on.]

If I'm not careful I get headaches. I had a lot of them in the beginning when I got a new power and stomach aches with another. They've gotten better since so maybe if you've got side effects they won't last long.

[One of these days Tetsuo'll work out how to keep what he set the thing to instead of replying in the same vein as anybody else. He's not in the best shape ever; though the room is dark, it's pretty clear from the illumination the communicator provides that the kid hasn't slept well for a while.

Judging by the way he's holding his head, he might also share that headache thing.]

One of mine that I got when I arrived leaves marks if I use it for too long, have to get someone else to heal them. Another one gives me headaches.

There are probably a lot of us that have them that don't talk about them very much.

I think it depends on your powers? I get migraines, but it's because of where my powers come from.

I mean, some people had them back home, right? I mean, I know I did, but mine's all to do with radiation and technology, which doesn't always mix. Do you have any?

I've never been prone to them before and only had a headache occasionally. That's not the case anymore.

I'm not sure what it is that causes the symptom. It stared right after I arrived here.
