( guess who's back, back again? here she is, the grumpy savior, and... unbelievably, she's doing kind of okay. not, you know, great... but kind of okay.
she comes as a woman on a mission, though... however embarrassing it is. )

( no seriously. a lot of dreamcatchers. she can get about an hour of sleep a night on a good night, so far, and the rest of her nights are spent failing at crafting and making dreamcatchers. )

not sure I could handle sketching. trying to find some zen, and laughable attempts at art probably won't do the trick.

[Cooking and painting for him. It just feels good to have something to focus on in a place that's brand new and full of overwhelming, confusing things.]
You make dreamcatchers? I don't think I've ever had a real one before.

( thanks to her curse, she has a t of time on her hands and she needs something to fill it with. Gold told her a hobby, productivity, could help her. Emma's not confident yet but she's at least trying. )
yeah. well, depends on what you define as real. I just like them, sentimental reasons.

Playing the violin. Well. Easy for some people.
Please don't tell me you're suggesting those things actually work.

not the way you'd think, anyway. long story. but no, they're purely decorative with a slight placebo effect.

Needlework and knitting ?
What's a dreamcatcher :) ?
no subject
it's... well I'll let you look up the cultural context, I'd mess it up anyway. but essentially they're decorative nets usually made by native americans, and they're supposed to catch bad dreams and only let the good through. my ex called them flypaper for nightmares.

What is a dreamcatcher? Does it truly ensnare one's dreams as its name suggests?
[ Because sign him up for like 483474739532 of them. ]

so they say. they're supposed to catch nightmares and only let good thoughts through.

[ Says the young prince who most definitely likes to learn magic tricks when he's in need of an occupation. ]
I always find that's an interesting use of one's time. And if done well, can always charm a crowd. [ Even though it's usually children he's conjuring tricks for. ]
no subject
No, can't say I have. ( that's not technically true. five finger discounts were a sort of slight of hand, weren't they? now that she can make things disappear with magic, the skill is less enticing, but hey. she'll bite. )
Do you find it calming? When you're practicing, anyway.

Also, have you tried baking? I'm not amazing at it, but I can probably give you a couple of tips.

Sure. You can have as many as you want, kid.
Good luck charms, huh? Maybe. If I can make a dreamcatcher I can probably make a charm. Really though, you don't know? Don't you have any hobbies?

( some would say you don't. some would say you don't want to know. Emma lifts a dream catcher to the feed, surprisingly complicated web of string and feathers. )
Supposedly they catch nightmares and only let the good thoughts in. I guess it's up to you if you believe it or not.

it's basically a woven net of sorts. folklore says it can catch nightmares but I can't really say I believe that. they're pretty, though.

Drawing and painting, a little bit of baking. And also anything that looks interesting when I type 'arts and crafts' into the search function.
Do dreamcatchers actually catch dreams?
no subject
google has a lot of ideas, but I was hoping to get first hand experiences. which are the most calming.
I guess it depends on who you ask. but traditional dreamcatchers, no, I wouldn't say they do. it's kind of like a nightlight for kids, as long as they think it'll protect them, it will.

Dreamcatchers he learns from reading what he can see here, Thus he doesn't ask, but finds he's both interested and amused. He wonders, if only briefly, if a dreamcatcher would be such that it could catch him. He suspects not. But it leaves him curious if he could design such a thing that might very well do just that.
Regardless, this person asked a question. Working with one's hands... ]
Painting. Whittling. Weaving baskets, perhaps. Writing. Easy as in easily capable, if not in easily mastered. It takes time, dedication, perhaps some talent to become proficient in most anything.
I'd be interested in viewing one of your dreamcatchers.
