[ The feed flicks on to show bright blue eyes and a wide white grin. Chuckling, the seemingly eighteen-year-old culprit tips the phone back so it can catch most of him (staff slung over a shoulder, perched somewhere hideously high and whoops, sorry if you get vertigo!) on the viewer. He's had a really terrible Easter weekend back in his own world but this, this place? This is incredible. (He might have taken several dozen selfies with people on the street already. No regrets.) In the past hour, all three cities have suffered a bit of a chilly spell; frost on windows and even light snow in the south as he explores.

Then again, with an ID reading Jack Frost | Spirit of Winter the mystery is somewhat at an end, if you've been wondering where the sun went. ]

Hey, people! Can everybody see this? Hear it? Kids, old fogeys, the whole nine yards — you don't even have to believe in what you're watching, you just can? [ Barking out an excited laugh, Jack's eyes crinkle. ] Oh, man, you've gotta be kidding me.

Anybody want to talk? I've got three hundred years to make up lost time for.

[ Chinning a hand, he settles in a perched crouch. Evidently, for those who pay attention to details, Jack is only frosty in name and powers, old-old, and completely at home with technology. ]

[ the video is clearly accidental - it first starts out with a simple view of the generic heropa bedroom. a bed and a door make for a cinematic masterpiece. it takes a whole two minutes, maybe even more, before the director finally realizes the camera has even been on at all.

she listened intently to the whole explanation of the phone, yet she still hardly understands it.

slowly but surely, a tiny girl with her hair styled in the shape of a pretzel (yes, a pretzel) garbed in traditional dress pops up in the bedroom scene. she looks like she's quite obviously struggling, and when she's satisfied with the camera angle, her expression only shifts to something like mousy, jumpy trepidation. ]

Umm... [ she makes a noise as if she's about to say something more, but her stage fright shines through and makes her hesitate. the camera is moved again for a brief moment but is soon back on her face. ]

I-I've been told that there's a neat-work to speak to other people on. [ she's assuming this is it. ] I've also been told that I'm a 'hero,' but that isn't right. This isn't my home, and I don't live in Flow-ridda. [ if there's one thing she's sure of, it's that she's being bad right now by speaking to all of these supposed people on the network. she shouldn't be speaking so familiarly to strangers. she shouldn't be speaking to strangers period. ]

Have I... been bad?

[ the comm reads Impulse ]

Hey! [Greeting all you lovely imPorts on this fine morning is a kid in a cream and red spandex suit, yellow tinted goggles over his eyes, and a big ol' smile on his face.] Those of you that don't know, I'm Impulse. Super fast, super crash- [Bart Allen you are literally the only person who says crash stop ruining your secret ID] -part of a team of superheroes back home and here which dude totally awesome and totally here to help.

[But that's not what today's post is about! So, he takes a moment to inhale and focus.]

Anyway two things. First [He holds a up a finger] I can run fast enough to move over water and break the sound barrier. Which means I have the ability to be just about anywhere in about an hour. I also uh [He winces] kinda need to make some money which is totally moded since most of the fun places won't hire kids if the government doesn't tell them to. So if anyone needs a package or letter - for all you guys from before technology - delivered super fast and super discreet send me a message! I can do literally any city in any state.

Second [A second finger ticks up, and his grin spreads] anyone wanna race? There totally have to be more people with super speed here I mean I know super strength is pretty common and a lot of people seem to have tech powers or are just really smart but there have to be a few people who can run or fly.

So about this heroing... it feels weird to me to act like I can call myself a 'hero' when all I do for the most part is get up and go to work every day. So I was wondering if someone wanted to spar with me, for training purposes. Anything goes, to first blood. If you can't fight but want to learn, too, I can teach you what I know. Might not be as much as other people, but it's a starting point.

Anyway, let me know.

[ooc: log here for anyone who's interested in threading out training]

[The camera blips to life to show a blonde, bun-haired girl's beaming face. She appears to be in her bedroom, seating at her desk with her bed in the background. Her room is tidy and decorated with cute accents. A stuffed animal on her bed; a string of star-shaped lights hung on the wall; pale purple curtains on the window barely appearing in frame; any sort of touch she could bring to the room that made it feel less cookie-cutter. Government housing was pretty bland in appearance, she was clearly doing her best to make the room assigned to her feel like it was hers.]

So! Valentine's Day is coming up!

[She cocks her head a little, thoughtful.]

Back home, that's the day when girls would give chocolates to the boys they like or like-like... Then, on White Day, the boys are supposed to give gifts back in return!

[She's all smiles.]

But apparently here, it's all mashed into one day? I think that's really wonderful! No month long wait to see if the guy you like, likes you back! I mean, not that I've dealt with that personally... but I know people who have!

[She shakes her head a bit. Don't fumble! With a soft clap of her hands together, she looks directly into the camera with a bright smile.]

I just think this is all really sweet and I hope you all have a nice Valentine's day this weekend!

[[Note: her comm tag reads "Usagi Tsukino," no mention of Sailor Moon.]]

[There were plenty of adults teaching students at his school about the dangers of the world wide web and giving your identity away to people you don't know. Honestly he doesn't know if this network is the same as the Internet in that way, but since he was told that superheroes were involved in this, this can only mean one thing: secret identities.

Which is how he comes to the conclusion that it is the best choice to keep his face off the network and use audio for this, even if the topic itself is pretty harmless.]

Uh, hello. [The voice on the network is really young-sounding. A boy that's maybe ten or eleven years old, twelve at most.] My name is Ken. I got here the other day, and I... guess I'll be working with everyone here, as a 'hero.' [The last part comes out as an embarrassed mumble, trailing, off followed by a couple seconds of silence.]

Um, I actually arrived here with my friend. He's a dog, and I was wondering if there were any parks to take him on walks, or anywhere to meet other dogs. He doesn't get to play with a lot of other dogs back where we're from, so I want to do something for him.

[The name that shows up on the entry is "Tadashi" because you better believe he's not taking chances in a place like this. Optimistic? Yes, absolutely. But not risking safety and trying to keep the whole 'internet safety' role model in tact is something else. Besides, he'd never hear the end of it from his little brother if Hiro saw him posting to this network with his full name. So yep, another one that hacked his user ID settings.

There's a fairly substantial pause at the beginning of the recording while Tadashi tries to suss out the buzzing in his head and how to word his question without being too obvious. He eventually sets the device down on the desk in front of him, making his voice sound distanced a bit.]

I could use some input on something if anyone could help. Best non-destructive pranks while snowed into your own house, what've you got?

[He hasn't forgotten that dare Hiro made Lana do or the cheap snowball shot in the yard. It is on.]

[The ID reads Green Lantern and he's sitting on the rooftop of some building and eating a sandwich.]

Word of warning, if you go off planet they'll threaten to cut you off and effectively leave you to die. So if you leave make sure you have something that isn't dependent on your abilities, technology from your world counts in that category so build a new ship.

Also this universe is quiet. I couldn't find a single inhabited planet or get any transmissions. So to answer that question, we are in fact alone in this universe.

[He takes a bite and chews on it while he sets up a hologram of the region in space he explored. In case the ID didn't make it clear, the hologram is green. Green everywhere.]

Anyway a while back there was a discovery that this lady mapped out a section of space and noted down a couple of stars that don't actually exist now. [The relevant points glow brighter.] I checked them out and there's nothing there. At all. Something that big doesn't just vanish, but whatever happened there wiped it out so completely I couldn't get anything on my scans.

If anyone wants to look them over be my guest, but I doubt you'll find anything new or even find anything that can handle that much raw data.

[ the view of the area behind barry looks like— well it looks like a bench because barry feels like soaking up the fresh air and honestly if these conversations go south, he feels like it might be good to be out in the open where he can run easily without upsetting everything else. see, there's a part of him, a very big part of him that knows asking this is a bad idea. if the reaction oliver had gotten when he just existed was any indication, this is, in fact, a very no good bad idea. one he probably shouldn't indulge himself with and yet here he is totally indulging himself. for science and for his own piece of mind.

but mostly science. ]

So. How many of you recognize the name Barry Allen? [ there's a pause and the world's longest sigh before he says anything else, because he realizes he can't even frame this as him asking for someone else because his id says his name. no this is just barry allen asking how many people recognize just his name. ] I don't— You can tell me how or not, I'm easygoing as far as stories like that go, but consider this a survey with me asking one question. [ ...this was such a bad idea. moving on to equally important stuff. ]

Oh yeah! Before I forget, if you live in residence thirteen in Heropa, hi. I haven't actually gone in there yet but I think I have roommates. I'll be there in a minute, but hi before you actually see me in person. [ "minute", ha. then there's this half pause before: ] And does anyone know what exactly being a crime show fact checker entails? I mean I deal with crime scenes at home so I know what they're supposed to look like! But if I'm going to be checking if some crime is real because it's a true crime show— that's a little different obviously. And a bit exploitative so I might not be as comfortable with that.
